Students at Northeast want to ow, and they get a response. The buck stops here, replies new Eresident Charles Pendley, who just tepped into the post from the office of dean of instruction. In the number-two spot, l looked only through one pane of a tour-part window, now, I must look through the whole. he said. The four vital parts of the college are QD fiscal matters, Q21 physical plant, C35 student affairs, C45 instruction. Each is a separate identity, according to Pendley. However, the first three support the fourth, he said. It is evident in conversing with him that Dr. Pendley weighs each of these factors equally as he ponders on priorities for the institution in relation to his time and his goals for providing optimum education for all students. Politics become an ever-increasing dominion over his time as he travels near and far presenting the school's image in legislative affairs. These trips become more and more imperative in sustaining what has already been established by his predecessor, Dr. E.R. Knox, as well as in his quest to supply the needs of the facility for the future. Lobbying becomes an essential part in the role he must play while in Montgomery as he represents the college. These efforts represent some of what it takes to maintain the fiscal aspect of the school. Care of the physical plant itself is a CCon't on page eighth Student involvement is the main goal of the new Student-Government Association. Steve Mcfall has been named 1982-83 president. Other officers are as follows: Linda Elliot, vice-president, Karen Cooper, Perry Peek, and Joey Bunch, sophomore representativesg Elizabeth Daniel, Auburey Carson, and Eric Woods, freshman repre- sentatives. The S.G.A. planned the fall quarter dance and is working on two new projects. The group is trying to get a new juke box or have the old one fixed and provide some recreational activities between classes. Our main goal is to get students more excited and involved in activities, Miss Elliot said. Science Building Planned Construction for a new science building is planned. It will be located in front of the present science building. The two--story facility will consist of an anatomy lab, chemistry lab, microbiology lab, and a biology lab. There will be prep rooms, large storage areas and adequate office space for biology staff. In addition to the laboratories, there will be a first aid room, a mechanical room, and a student lounge. There has been no definite date for the completion of the building, but laying of the foundation has already begun.
