CHORUS There are three performing groups at Northeast, the Chorus, the Ensemble, and the Stage Band. These are open to all students, music and non-music majors with the consent of the instructors. The two choral groups are the Chorus and the Ensemble. The Chorus is open to all students, without audition. The Chorus pre- sents two major concerts annually, one at Christmas and another in the Spring. The repertoire is a variety of choral literature from motets to pop songs. Northeast believes singing is fun for ev- eryone . Charlene Larson, Director, joined the Northeast faculty in September of 1968. The Chorus participates in the annual high school day activities, graduation, and is available for school, church, and community activities. The Chorus sang for the reopening of the Fort Payne Opera House in 1970. Since 1976, the Chorus' Christmas Concert has been seen on WHNT-TV, Channel 19, in Huntsville and heard on local radio stations. The 1982-83 Chorus in Christmas Concert 152

ORTHEA-ST CI VI ETTES The Civinettes is a volunteer civic organi- zation. Its purpose is to provide voluntary assistance to needy groups. Activities this year included supplying fruit for patients at area nursing homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and making Easter bas- kets for the department of pensions and se- curity.
