Northampton’s Men’s Track Team had a very successful year in 1977, winning 9 out of 10 meets. Several records were bro- ken: Clide Fisher — 9.9 second 100 yd. dash, 120 yd. high hurdles — 14.9, Inter- mediate hurdles — 41.4. The mile relay team, 1)Charles Fisher, 2)Cecil Widgeon, 3)Eric Moody, 4)Sylvester White, broke the school record with a time of 3:33:4. This year with more seniors returning NSHS is looking for a promising future. The girls won the Eastern Shore Invitational Track Meet, placed second in the district, third in the regional and seventh in the state. The 440 relay team, consisting of Louise Campbell, Pat Williams, Dale Upsur and Effie George, set a state record of 50.2 seconds over the previous record of 50.9 seconds. The girls placed in several other events at this meet.
