For almost two years, our nation has been preparing for this great event; and during the course of the preparation, the effect has been somewhat diminished. Indeed, our nation's birthday has been commercialized to the point that many people have lost the true meaning of the word, ''Bicentennial. ' Perhaps it is time for the students of NSHS to re- examine what the Bicentennial means to them, and put it back into proper perspective. For this reason, the Annual Staff has attempted in the 1976 TORCH to emphasize the role Northampton County has played in the 200-year history of the United States of America.
