Willis Wharf, Va. April 12, 1961 Dear Elsie, I know it's lonely up there in New York without your lil' ole roommate, but I can't say I'm sorry I came home. I'm just full of news about all our classmates of '53. The other day I had lunch with Peggy Costin, who's married now, and says life at Cobb's Island is fine. Peggy told me that Jeanne Badger and Betty Ann Tatum ownabeautyshop. Jeanne is now famous for inuoducing the pony tail to the shore. We passed Owen Ashby's farm. Peg says he has been nicknamed the Cucumber King of the Eastern Shore . We also passed Tommy Fitchett in his fifth new Buick of the year. Another car whizzed by. Later Irealized Raymond Clayton has finally gotten a new Chevrolet. Billy Ward and Warner Smith are now rival gas station owners. Evonne Outten and Charlotte Clark are now both married, and have duplex apartments. Anne Webb and her husband have converted the Coo Coo's Nest into a hotel for honeymooners. While I was reading the local paper last nightl noticed Donald Elliott had an ad in for his ducks, Betty Jane Bayly was advertising the newFords for her agency. Incidently, she and Clarence have voted model parents of the year. Gordon Lee's new movie, The Shiek of Araby and The Brat , starring Robert Taylor, were coming attractions. Page Floyd has won 350, 000 on his new race horse, Loretta-Wynne . Among the new teachers at N. H. S. , l found many of our former classmates. Sylvia Adkins teaches bookkeeping, Margaret Anne Savage, Frenchg Norman Bell has taken over the English department, and Bsie May West teaches Home Ec. . Byrl Smalladvertises his SMALL Loan Agency. J. P. Scott has been appointed game warden. Daniel Marshall runs a taxi. Don Matthews is editor of E.S. News! The Red-Headed League meets monthly with Barbara Brittingham and Martha Lewis as president and vice-president respectively. Did you see TV last ui ht? Many of our friends were on it. Eddie Gladstone, is not a sports-caster. Bobby McCreasy now plays football for the Chicago Bears, and Kirby Bowen has just won a Uack race. Elsie Shrieves is Sid Caesar's new partner. Mary Lou Smith and Jo Ann Griffith are the Foni Twins! Of course, we who remember Jo Ann's naturally curly hair know Mary Lou had the Foni. On The Celebrity Hour , Verna Boole sang an aria from her latest opera. Also, on the show were Betty Scanlan, who's been voted Our Favorite Dance Partner by the U. S. Marines and Emilie Bedsworth, who has been voted by the Hairdressers' Society as the Girl With The Most Beautiful Black I-lair in New York . Francis Ennis previewed her book, Frankly Speaking , and Raymond Hopper, now Eddie Arnold's assistant, sang a number. As I was cutting the TV off, Mary Ann Henderson flew in. She runs a crow shooting gallery in Washington. Ethe Gladden is married for the fifth time, and Janet Whitehead is now in Paris, France. efore Mary Ann left, Larry Killmon and Barbara Taylor came in to say hello. Larry now manufactures green suede shoes, and Bobbie is athletic director at Mary Washington. Tommy Miles will have a concert, sponsored by the Kellam Distributing Co. Jack Holland delivers milk for Mapleton Farms. Lenore Boss's project is a Lonely Hearts Agency. Tommy Huison manufactures typewriters with Louise Travis as hisstar sales clerk. Benny Gaskill has moved back to North Carolina, and Charles Bailey is chief drummer in a Ringling Circus band. That is the climax! Love ya , Marie
