XX x o if X nr E IIS VF P V WIT we .,,-ea. 9 4 . D 5, Dear Torch, Today, September 9, 1948, the class of '52 began its high school career. We chose as our class officers: Herman Walker, Presidentg Randy Gibbs, Vice-Presidentg Mary Lu James, Secretary, and Virginia Lee Gladden, Treasurer. Our flower was the rose and our colors were blue and silver. The Student Council was organized at this time. Our representatives were Lucia Whitehead, Maurice Nottingham, and Paige Fitchett. Mostof our fun came with the class parties. In our Sophomore year we planned and compiled the football program for the annual Northampton-Cape Charles football game. At last we became Juniorsl This year we elected Lucia Whitehead, Paige Fitchett, Jane Douglas, Wanda Warren and Irene Looney as our cheerleaders. This year Northampton had its first Majorette Corps, with Lou Ann Ashby as a leader. Our class play, Elmer , was a big hit with parents and students alike. The big event came when we gave the seniors a wonderful Prom in May. On September 6th, we entered the last stretch on our road to our graduation. Mr. J. L. Johnson joined us as new principal. Our class again reorganized with the following officers: Herman Walker, Presidentg Joe Downes, Vice-President, Barbara Killmon, Secretary and Archie Bradford, Treasurer. The Student Council was continued with Morris Lewis, Sophomore and Junior President of our class, elected president by the student body. We soon received our class rings. Examinations! We then began work on our class play. We hope that when we leave, we will be remembered for our contributions to the life of the school. a fe
