1 RONALD DARBY Principal No record of the achievements of the class of 55 would be complete without a tribute to the members of our faculty at Northampton High School. Without their assistance, their continued encouragement, and their unwavering confidence in us, our four years would not have been so successful. We wish to express gratitude to our principal, Mr. Darby, who has, through our many contacts with him, gained our ever-increasing admiration and respect. Our sincere appreciation also goes to both Miss Dopp- mann and Mr. Foran for their unlimited advice and patience. Each academic department has contributed in molding us for adult life. We have become better citizens because of the efforts of the history depart- ment. The science and mathematics departments have shown us the necessity of accuracy. Before we re- ceived training from them, we were content with the simple acceptance of facts, but now we ask the ques- tion, Why? The commercial department has broad- ened our opportunities for success in the business world. We have become aware, through the Latin department, of the meaning and the power of a word. The French department has given us an insight into the language and customs of our foreign friends. Thanks to the English department, we have become better acquainted with the mysteries and techniques of our own language and have discovered the rich treasury of world literature. It was these medicine men, the men and women of the Northampton High School faculty, to whom we turned not only for guidance in our studies but for solutions to many problems. As we conclude four years here, we wish to extend a hearty thank you to the members of the faculty at Northampton High School.
