DEDICATION MISS MARGARET KAYE HELM To one who has so willingly given of herself to others, whose spirit and loyalty to the Seniors have been a constant inspi¬ ration, we, the Senior Class of Nineteen Hundred and Seventy dedicate this Annual Lighthouse Yearbook to Miss Margaret Kaye Helm. Tis the human Touch in this world that counts, The touch of your hand Which means far more to the fainting heart Than shelter and bread and wine; For shelter is gone when the night is o ' er. And bread last only a day. But the touch of your hand and the sound of your voice. Sing on in the soul always . Miss Helm graduated from Northampton County High and further continued her edu¬ cation at Virginia State College where she obtained her B.S. degree in Business Edu¬ cation. Miss Helm ' s hobbies are sewing, dancing, reading, and trying to help other people. We the graduating class feel that Miss M. K. Helm deserves this honor. SENIOR CLASS 70 ' PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE GreetiQgs To The Senior Class of 1970 This is a time when congratulations are in order not only to the graduates but to parents and teachers whose efforts have played a very vital role in making this accomplishment possible. My sin¬ cere congratulations are extended to all of you. Certainly, it has been challenging and gratifying to observe your development during your high school years. Most of your time in high school was in the decade of the ' 60s, which appeared to have been an era of unique consequence. 1 commend each of you in the Graduating Class of 1970 on your diligent efforts during your five years in school as you have worked cooperatively under the supervision and guidance of your teachers. As you depart from Northampton County High School, whatever you have selected as your profession, or vocation, strive to do your best in your endeavors. Take advantage of all opportunities. Learn all you can about yourself and the world . The final year in high school for you was the commencing of a new decade of adventure, a decade you will help to form. Best wishes for a pleasant and productive future. Sincerely, C. L. Brickhouse, Principal 2 ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Mr. William Sisco is a person who we all admire for his patience, honesty, and integrity. Chorus When we have gone WeTl stop and think of our dear school Whose hallowed walls we ' ve grown accustomed to And well be true to our dear Alma Mater Dear N . C . H ., Dear N . C . H ., we love you so. CLASS POEM THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM To dream the impossible dream, To fight the unbeatable foe, To bear with unbearable sorrow, To run where the brave dare not go. To right the unrightable wrong, To love, care and chaste, from afar, To try when your arms are too weary -- To reach the unreachable star. This is my quest, To follow that star, No matter how far To fight for the right Without question or pause. To be willing to march into hell For a heavenly cause. And I know if I ' ll only be true To this glorious quest, That my heart Will lie peaceful and calm When I ' m laid to my rest. And the world will be better for this, That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star. 27 SUPERLATIVES MOST DEDICATED BEST COUPLE BEST CITIZENS Annie Maloy Norman Bailey Shirley Bailey Paul Johnson Deborah Francis Wyane Bell BEST LOOKING BEST FILLIBUSTER MOST HAPPY-GO-LUCKY Cleo Robinson Claude Treherne Ronnie Giddens Paul Williams Regina Davis Paul Williams best students MOST COOPERATIVE SMALLEST Shirley Allen Glenn Stratton Annie Mitchell Joseph Church Delois Weatherly Thomas Henry 28 SUPERLATIVES MOST SERIOUS MOST BUSINESS-LIKE BEST DRESSED Shirley Allen Glenn Stratton Jannice Johnson Joseph Church Hermine Collins Chauncie Reid MOST POPULAR MOST COMICAL BEST FLIRTS Deborah Francis Gregory Spady Ronnie Giddens Clifton Johnson Linda Chandler Percy Finney SWEETEST SHORTEST MOST STUDIOUS ««■Mary Fauntleroy George Floyd Carmilla Gray Milton Stratton Annie Mitchell Bejamin Trowcr Iililllila SUPERLATIVES MOST ATTRACTIVE MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED WORST PESTS Jannice Johnson Ulysses Smith Shirley Allen Glenn Stratton Lillian Custis Clif ton Johnson BEST SPEAKERS MOST TALENTED BEST ATHLETE Deborah Francis Joseph Church Deborah Francis Ralp Davis Regina Davis Gregory Spady TYPICAL STUDENTS TALLEST BEST ARTISTS Evelyn Bailey Wyane Bell Tiquinia Weeks Ralph Davis Jennetta Gaskins Willie Brown 30 SUPERLATIVES QUIETEST BEST SINGERS MOST UNFORGETTABLE Brenda Brown Wyane Bell Dianne Scarborough Glenn Stratton Jannice Johnson George Floyd MOST MUSICAL BEST ACTORS MOST NONCHALANT Donnie Weeks Chauncie Reid BEST PERSONALITY Annie Collins WTllie Copes MOST TALKATIVE Karen Giddens Larry Figgs MOST INTELLEC TUAL Deborah Francis Barbara Moses Annie Collins Ralph Davis James Braxton Glenn Sti-atton 31 SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS PRESIDENT Glen Stratton VICE-PRESIDENT Ralph Davis SECRETARY Annie Mitchell ASST.
