GUIDANCE COMMITTEE The concept of guidance has changed over the years from a narrow, restricted program assisting only those students with behavior or scholarship difficulties to a comprehensive program of service designed to help all pupils make a wholesome and realistic personal, social, vocational, and educational plans and adjustments. Guidance is not something we do today and forget tomorrow. Guidance, like any other phase of the school program, must be On Going. However, at particular periods in the educational life of the child, guidance needs are accentuated. For example, most pupils in any school will need help in adjusting to a new school environment, in planning a high school program, or in selecting a college. As pupils ap¬ proach these critical steps in the educational ladder, it is appropriate that group guidance activities be conducted. The Guidance Committee is attempting this type of group guidance as well as individual guidance through the following activities: Follow up studies; homeroom guidance; personal interview; student progress charts; and career day. Members of the Committee are; STANDING: Miss G. L. Brown, Counselor; Mr. W. H. Smith, Princi¬ pal; Miss F. J. Stephenson, Mr. F. W. Brickhouse. SEATED; Mrs. L. U. Kornegay, Mrs. I. J. Williams, and Mrs. A. W. Smith. 9
