PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Young people of the class of 1961, it is indeed a pleasure to congratulate a future group of American Frontiersmen. It is my conviction that the new frontiers, now awaiting you will be an incentive that will motivate you to move forward. In this most challenging age, it will make little difference what field of human endeavor you consider--whether science, the arts, the spiritual disciplines or other areas of living--your progress will depend on the maintenance of an atmosphere which will foster individual effort at its maximum level. It seems to me that you have, thus far, been exposed to such an atmosphere, and this being true, you should know that it has two essential components-- first, a maximum of opportunity for individual self expression; and secondly a maximum incentive for achievement. It will be well for you to remember that average performance is simply not enough, and if you are to enjoy your new frontiers and move forward, you must attempt the really difficult tasks, even while recognizing the possibility that you may not reach the Summit. Your world will be one that will be demanding individual excellency in order to survive. Now, as you go forth to face the new Frontiers of the Sixties, it is the hope of those who have had the good fortune of working with you that you will go forward implementing the ideas and ideals that will inspire new heights of achievement in your world of tomorrow. May God bless each of you and may your harvest be a good one. Remember that we shall always cherish the opportunity of having shared with you the formative period of your young lives. W. H. Smith, Principal

DEDICATION TO THE CITIZENS OF NORTHAMPTON COUNTY We, the Senior Class of “61’ of Northampton County High, realizing the many contributions, and the great part the citizens of this country have played in helping us reach this station in life, pay tribute, by dedicating to them the 1961 edition of “THE LIGHTHOUSE”, It is with deepest respect and apprec¬ iation that we do this. As we graduate from Northampton County High School, we feel certain because of the fine spirit you have shown; we, as future citizens of America, will try to equal your civility.
