GUIDANCE COMMITTEE The concept of guidance has cnanged over the years from a narrow, restricted program assisting only those students with behavior or scholarship difficulties to a comprehensive program of service designed to help all pupils make wholesome and realistic personal, social, vocational, and educational plans and adjustments. Guidance is not something we do today and forget tomorrow. Guidance, like any other phase of the school program, must be “on going’ . However, at particular periods in the educational life of the child, guidance needs are accentuated. For example, most pupils in any school will need help in adjusting to a new school environment, in planning a high school program, or in selecting a college. As pupils approach these critical steps in the educational ladder, it is appropriate that group guidance activities be conducted. The Guidance Committee is attempting this type of group guidance as well as individual guidance through the following activities: A. Follow-up Studies B. Homeroom Guidance C. Personal Interview D. Student Progress Charts E. Career Day It is our hope that our efforts will be far-reaching and that our objective of guidance for all students will be met adequately. Members of the Committee are: Miss G. L, Brown, Counselor, Mrs. I. J. Williams, Mrs. L. U. Kornegay, Miss D. M. Turner, Mr. F. Brickhouse, Miss C. Y, Hayes (Not Shown), Mrs. B, M. Ervin and Mr. W. H, Smith, Principal.
