Mike Schneider The overall attitude of the school is different and Northampton High School lacks the pride in itself which was very evident in the early 70s.” said Mike Schneider in explaining the changes since he graduated in 1973. A very special memory for Schneider was winning the District XI Basketball Championship in 1972 when he played forward for the Konkrete Kids. Besides basketball, he also participated in baseball. Presently. Schneider is a special education teacher. i I feel that over the years the dress code and the discipline of our school has changed,” said Theresa Schafer, a 1963 graduate of Northampton, describing the changes that have been made since her high school days. Additionally, Schafer participated in chorus, volleyball, intramurals, the Senior Class play. Not for Sale. and National Honor Society. Presently, Schafer works in the office as Principal Frank Kovacs’ secretary. Senior. Mike Schneider, of the Class of 1973 When I was in high school, discipline and academics were extremely regimented, said Gordon Bartholomew. a 1958 graduate of Northampton High School, in responding to the changes he has observed since his high school day. Winning the District XI Wrestling Championship in 1958 is Bartholomew’s fondest memory of high school. In addition to wrestling. Bartholomew participated in weightlifting and football. Presently. A former winner of the History Essay Contest and Girl of the Month, Enid Hower is a 1964 graduate of Northampton who notices many changes in the high school since she graduated. Mowhawks. earrings, and a smoking area are a few of the differences she has noted. Hower participated in numerous activities including National Honor Society, Drama Club, Amptennian, and stage crew. She currently works as the attendance secretary in the main office. Nan Louise Guss. a 1971 Northampton senior Carole Bellhom Nan Guss Mcntzell and son, Trevor, are the center of attention. Enid Hower Many disciplinary changes have taken place and there are more opportunities today,” said Carole Bellhom in explaining the changes she has observed since graduating in I960. Furthermore, Bellhom sees changes in the atmosphere of the school, including different dress codes and more student drivers. Bellhorn participated in Girls’ Chorous, Mixed Chorous. and Ensemble. Bellhorn is now working in the main office as John McAllister’s secretary. In 1981. Nan Guss and Robert Mentzell. a U.S. Geography teacher at Northampton, were married. On October 7, 1985. their first son, Trevor, was born. To date, Guss-Mentzell has served the Northampton Area School District as an English. Theatre Arts, and Television Production teacher. Additionally, she has directed the school's theatre performances since 1979. Although Guss-Mentzell is presently on maternity leave, the spring musical. Once Upon a Mattress, was done under her direction. A 1971 graduate of N.H.S., Guss-Mentzell led the football spectators as our mascot, the Konkrete Block”. She was Drama Club President and a member of Student Council and field hockey team. Additionally, she served as basketball and softball managers.

Joan Pristash notices a difference in the number of students now driving to school each morning and the many more opportunities for students since graduating from Northampton High School in 1955. While attending N.H.S., Pristash actively participated in chorus, the Photography Club, the Conkrete Courier. Amptennian. and National Honor Society. Presently. Pristash works for Assistant Principal Charles Dischinat. — A 1969 graduate of Northampton. Dan Marakovits notices more freedom for students today. While in high school, Marakovits was a member of Student Council and Northampton Club. Captain of the basketball team for four years, Marakovits graduated with athletic honors as a member of the Lehigh Valley All-Star team. Presently.
