Ueam tyraituxic |evv Kremus ties hurdles record The boys’ track team ended another successful season with a record of 5-6. Eight boys competed in the District meet on May 18. District qualifiers included seniors Eric Hoffman, who scored the most points for a senior, Dave Fox, and Jack Pascoe; juniors Terry James, Mike Perry, and Jeremiah Jones; sophomore Darrin Walker; and freshman Jason Kremus. James placed fourth in the 800 meter and Kremus brought home the bronze medal in the 110 meter hurdles, along with tying the school record of 15.4 for the event. Coaches Robert Bryant (jumpers), Ralph Fertig (hurdlers), Bernie Partridge (throwers), Tim Caffrey (sprinters), and Roger Klotz (distance) feel good about this year’s team, which finished with its best record in four years. ’’When it came down to a close meet, the boys rallied together, stuck it out. and won. which shows the team spirit we had this year,” stated Coach Caffrey. cKtM remain SDt trle t cfiarrtp 5 team to win consecutive titles Head coach Jim Kinter often told his team, Becoming a number one is easier than remaining number one.” His words inspired the varsity softball team as they coasted to their second consecutive District XI championship. The team ended the regular season with an impressive 18-1 record. Their only loss came against Eastons however, the Kids played with revenge as they defeated the Red Rovers 9-8 in the District championship game. Senior Ann Pierzga and junior Christie Susko were considered by many as the best pitchers in the East Penn League. Pierzga ended the season with a notable 11-0 record. She was honored for pitching the first perfect game in the Lehigh Valley. The superb defense of the Kids consisted of seniors Ann Reimer, Mary O’Brien. Beth Eckhart, Lori Biechy, Alisa Kulchinsky, and Missy Jones, and sophomore Tammy Van Blargan. Pierzga and O’Brien were selected as East Penn League All-Conference all-stars. Named to the first team included Pierzga, O'Brien, Eckhart. and designated hitter Missy Molnar.
