Physical Education Department The parts of the eye and the muscles ofthe body combine with gym equipment and basketballs to complete the Physical Education Department. This department is also responsible for the coaching staffs of the various sports at Northampton. From a gym class to a health class to the varsity sports, the Physical Education Department is in the lime- light combining their talents and the students for a well-rounded education. Music Mr. Becker Like gym or driving, music is another welcome addition to the curriculum at Northamp- ton. In music class, students are allowed to express their emotional feelings in an appro- priate manner. The lack of pressure for a better grade helps to expand the feeling of excitement many s t u d e n t s have for music class. Lastly music, like some literature, also raises man above the problems of life and gives him a chance to live in a type of dream world for forty minutes. Vocational Department Our school, in an attempt to help students adjust to adulthood, offers several courses in vocational subiects. Through the school's wood and printing shop, as well as the privilege of using the facilities of the Bethlehem School Dis- trict, students who do not plan to continue their formal education can take course offerings that prepare them for a profitable occupation. Mr. Reiff and Mr. Erdosy lChairmani 14 Mr. Oplinger, Miss Kremus, Miss Yelenics, Mr. Altrichter, Mr. Erdosy Library Reference books, magazines, atlases, and fiction are a part of what the- library contains. Research papers, book reports, and escapes from study halls are the reasons to use the li- brary. However, books and assignments are only part of the contributions Mrs. Cann and the library aides make to the school for they also furnish a functional place to work and read. M .C Medical Department rs ann Bandages, pills, and thermometers are the fa- miliar items of the health room. Student health must precede classroom learning, and therefore students are permitted to use the available medi- cal facilities. Many thanks are extended to the efforts of the Health Department in keeping the student body healthy. Dr. Boucher and Miss Stettler if 2 llti i - X.
