FOREWORD Upon learning that the first issue of the Amptennian was published in 1915 and that the current edition marked fifty years of continuous production, it was the unanimous decision of our classmates that our theme should commemorate this golden anniversary. We of the staff were very happy about this choice since the opportunity to pursue a theme such as this occurs only once in a lifetime. In keeping, therefore, we have endeavored to establish as many ties as possible with the originators of our yearbook. This was done in several ways. One was in our cover design, another was through the use of photographs and other data pertinent to the Class of 1915. Still another, which involved serious problems, was the use of pages taken in their entirety from the 1915 Yearbook and their adaptation to color. Last but not least, the art work by Gail Kramer, the caricatures by William Frey, and the expressions of thought by Lillian Mirro that span the page tops, were all designed to bridge the fifty-year interval both ways. We lovingly call our cari- catures Angela and Chadwick. We are humbly proud of this golden opportunity to produce this golden book, which happily by coincidence - and not by premeditation - coincides with our class colors. We hope we have been able to do iustice to such a worthy theme. To you, then, we present the 1965 Amptennian. May it be a cherished addi- tion to your treasure trove of memories.
