Truth for his armor ALBERT M. LERCH, B.S., M.Ed. Director of Guidance and Activities Although he is one of the busiest persons in the school, Mr. Lerch always makes himself available to discuss any problem, whether it's vocational, education- al, or emotional, with any or all of us, and usually seems to come up with a solution. He has an unswerv- ing desire to guide young people toward the achieve- ment of their goals and to prepare them for their life's work. Scheduling assemblies, administering exams, and our problems keep him busy, but he's never too busy to be a friend. MRS. JANET SCHAADT 'X- Our very efficient, capable, and most accommodat- ing secretaries constitute one of our most important assets. ALFRED LAUBACH, Ph.B., M.A. Administrative Assistant The morning announcements, which Mr. Laubach makes, are invariably the harbinger of a hectic day for him, a day which takes him to iust about every nook and cranny of the school in the performance of an end- less series of tasks - endless in diversity as well as in number, and many far from being pleasant. You would expect successive days like this to sour the spirit of any principal's right-hand man, but that of Al, as he is af- fectionately known, is indestructible. His warm friend- ship and hearty laugh survive even the last period, and we love him. Minutes of the School Board tell us that the first principal of the high school, from '1902 to 1905, was E. J. Bernhardt. Then Mr. Landis served first as principal, a year later as supervis- ing principal. Succeeding him was Harry W. Shimer, who left in 1913 to accept the supervisor- ship of the Woodstown, New Jersey schools. Mr. NORMAN A. LAUB, B.S., M.A. Principal For the past nineteen years, Mr. Laub has been guiding hand behind all school proiects and activities - the school itself. His is truly an enviable record, a ord marked by patient, unceasing effort to make school a better place and by his aspirations to better prepare students for the responsibilities of ci tizens Frankenfield then assumed the principalship and was subsequently named superintendent in 1922. Ira L. Sheaffer, who had been assistant principal since 1913, who ardently promoted the school athletics program - and science - and everything for the betterment of his charges, then served as principal until his retirement in 1946. The zeal, devotion, leadership, and interest these men possessed is still apparent today. the rec- this hip, a record whose success has earned him the right to be proud, if he were a proud man. To him, our friend leader, we owe a debt of thanks, it was he who cared enough to see that everything was as it should have been, it was he who was always there to solve problems with which we could not cope. page ll and the
