l ...-,.. viii' W INDUSTRIAL ARTS Poi txxo yeais the students of the Clarks Summit High School haxe had access to a xx ell equipped shop ioom xx hlch has been a large and neces sfny impioxement The courses 1nx olx ed consist of Woodxx Orklllg' and Mechanical Diaxx mg Mechanical Drawing, 18 tiught in connecton xxith the shop xxork The student must make a complete xx orking diaxxing of the pioiect xx hich he has planned An account is made of all materials needed foi building and finishing the proiect Th xxork done in the shop superxised by N11 Xeager is systemati callx conducted Each member of a class has a definite dutv to perform besides his indixidual proiect Students are selected to take care of the machines clean the shop and see that all tools aie in their proper places These iobs ale in a rotating order so that each student may become accustomed to shop processes The articles xx hich haxe b en turned out are excellent considering the short time our school has had a shop shoxxing that the students haxe taken a real interest in this sort of xx ork At the end of the last school xear an exhibition xx as made of the fur nltuie toys and othei articles made during the year This yeai a largei and better exhibition is planned The qualitx and xxorkmanship of the articles xx1ll be supeiior to those ot last year proxing that the shop ha accomplished results of a lasting xalue to the student bodv THE NEW ATHLETIC ASSCCIATICN A nexx' Athletic Association under the sup rvision of Wliss Well. has been organized to promote athletics for girls in C. S. H. S. The associa- tion is composed of the upstarts from Hockey. Their initial step xx'as taken when they assumed the responsibilitx of the salc of tickets for the Operctta. Cooperation and pep with successful results seem to be thx taliamen of this organization. 1-1 1--3 1,1 1-103113101fi-2-10341141101 14.11111 1114.1 1-1-1 .zozo .-.3 1 w .li Lv 'J 1' X Lflf FOOTBALL The season of 1932 1933 is as a successful one to the football team of C S H S Coach Lewis succeeded in building a fast smooth working team With only three letter men reporting the prospects were very pool How ewer a team was picked and we went into the season full of hope We were successful in the maiority of games having been defeated only twice The outstanding games of the season were The Factoryville Thank giv ing game the Keystone tilt the Mayfield battle and the Tunkhannock scoreless tie The Thanksgixing game was played on the looal gridiron Eai ly in the first quarter Decker 33 succeeded in making a touchdown The goal was missed in the try foi the extra point Factorvville scored late in the second quarter The second half was all in the Summit s faxor The piospects for a good team in 1933 1934 are excellent With experienced men the new athletic field and the corporation of the entire school plus the enthusiastic townspeople we anticipate a record year HOCKEY For the first time in foul years there has been an athletiic actixitv for the girls in the Claiks Summit High School Hockey was adopted with great enthusiasm by the students It was new and hard at first for the girls to learn Miss Wells the instructress worked hard to make thwe girls under tand the game Each class organized a team with a manager and cap tam Roberta Palmer was the manager of the Senior Cla s team and Mary Widdowfield w as the captain. The Senior Girls were the champions of the scho-ol. The games were played at 3:30 oclock on the athletic field. Th re was great interert shown by ,he other members of the school who attended the games. The one big gam of the season was th Faculty xersus the Students. shock to everyone to see the -teachers dressed in rompers and gym suits. The Faculty won much to the disappointment of the students. It was a With the winter weather hockey was discontinued. During the vsinter months tumbling and dancing classes wer., sub- stituted for the regular outdoor classes. As soon as the weather was favorable, classes were begun in preparation for the Track Meet, which was held in Old Forge, May 12.
