U55 Spwzglffz 1935 VIOLET FUNK Classical Activities-Glee Club: l, 45 Dramatic Club: 2, 45 Art Club: 2, 35 Girl Reserves: 2, 35 School News: 35 Operetta: 4. Violet is one of the little girls of our class. Although she has only joined us this year, she is loved by everyone. She has a remarkable talking and giggling ability. The most important hobby of l:'unkie is reading. Violet can always be seen with a book before her. Her ability to make speeches will always be remembered by her classmates. Violet wishes to become an authoress some day. We hope that her desire can be fulfilled. BERYL GOCHENOUR General Activities-Girl Reserves: l, 45 Library Club: 4. Here is another brunette of the class of '35, Beryl is known for her modesty and quietness. She is so quiet that one scarcely knows she is present and she is a firm be- liever of the statement, silence is golden. . When one speaks to this shy maiden, one finds that she is a willing talker. This is accompanied by pleasantness and a broad smile. Beryl's favorite pastime is reading. We wish her success in whatever she attempts. GEORGE HEINDEL ' Classical Activities--Orchestra: 1, 2, 45 Science Club: 4. George is big-hearted and he is always willing to take you along if he is going your way. Heindel seems to have a liking for Chem and can be seen industriously working in lab on Monday. William doesn't seem to be interested in the opposite sex at North York High School5 his attention is all centered on a certain house on Philadelphia Street. Do one thing and do it well, George, and success will be yours. RUSSELL HELWIG Commercial Activities-Glee Club: 45 Sparkler: 45 Operetta: 4. Shorty is one of '35's most popular boys although he has some particular friends among the underclassmen, While in typing class, Daisy likes to display his vocal talent, especially in regard to Rain One of Shorty's traits is his ability to take it as he is always the object of his classmates' jests. His only weakness is his wavy hair. lt seems that underclassmen like wavy hair very well. Al- though Shorty is usually rather quiet, a brilliant smile al- ways adorns his countenance, -K 1Q 3-

Although Helen is a rather quiet girl, she can trequentlv be seen talking to her ever present lriend, Velma. Charles home is at Zion's View, but she has quite some interest in the happenings at Roundtown. Finkie is usually late for school5 whether the cause is the taxi or just the girl is un- known. Helen has not yet decided what her life work will be but she is sure to succeed in Whatever she undertakes. ALICE FORTNEY Classical Activities-Glee Club: 45 Girl Reserves: 45 Operetta: 35 Class Play Usher: 4. Alice is just the sort ot a girl who goes quietly about her work without making much tuss about it. Alice is one who talks little but thinks much. Mix brains, ambition and a fine personality and you have Alice. She has a secret heart and we know his name is Bill and that is all we do know. Why none other but Gladys nice personality with freckles on her nose Fritz can usually be seen talking to either Helen Margaret or Gladys -her pals, Cutie has pursued the general course during her years in high school She like Butter is another member of the Titanic crew Our little girl is consider ing the work of a hairdresser as her lite occupation in which the entire class wishes her the best ot good fortune Who is that little brown haired girl who might well be ERMA FUNK Classical Activities-Girl Reserves 2 3 Art Club 2 3 Library Club 35 Librarian: 25 Sparkler 4 This quiet but studious young lady seems to live up to the advice that one should be seen and not heard Erma like her sister, has the art of excellent speech making Sen ior English students sit entranced when Erma rattles oft one Her admirable character traits are not apparent till you become acquainted with her Keep them Erma and you will travel far in lile's journey

Look whom we have herel None other than a great basketball player. Nardy may be better known to his classmates as Velma's old flame, or Ruth's shadow. Hummel is active in all school sports and he has true sportsmanship, which is something to be proud of. Nard seems especially fond of North George Street, but is it his fault that his past and present reside there? However, the class of '35 wishes him luck throughout any career he may choose. MARY HOKE Classical Activities-Operetta: 3, Girl Reserves: 4, Class Play Usher: 4, Sparkler: 4. Music has its charms but so has Maryl You may be sure that you have a pleasing combination with these two. The union of these charms has attracted a certain boy of Emigsville. One of Esther's accomplishments is her ability to speak with her eyes. Those eyes leave a lasting impression on anyone who speaks to her. Eses is a true friend once a person has secured her amiability. Gaiety is one of Esther's greatest charms and she has been known to brighten many a solemn group. These characteristics as well as her de- pendability gain for Esther many friends who appreciate her constant good humor. At North York: Library Club: 4, Cheering Section: 4. Naomi joined us on our pilgrimage in September, l934, due to her fine personality, she has won her way into hearts of her classmates. Naomi came from Hallam and friends there call her I-Iops. She takes no interest in opposite sex at North York, this is due to her devoted- ness to a certain Hallam lad by the name of Walt We wish her great success in whatever she undertakes. -4 2U ,-
