— 4 the past four years Mr. James and Mrs. Jeanette Harvout have been sponsors of the Class of 1965. During this time, they have given of their time, money, and homes without restraint. They have always been around when their assistance was needed. During our junior year, you could usually find Mrs. Harvout, her husband, or Mr. Kline behind the counter helping sell concessions, or pushing a broom after one of our home games. Both have given help and guidance when ever needed. The memory of both Mr. Kline and Mrs. Harvout will be carried by all the members of the Class of 1965 where ever we may go. It is with deep love, thanks, and pleasure that the Class of 1965 extend their appreciation to Mr. James Kline and Mrs. Jeanette Harvout, sponsors of the Class of 1965. G. We’re g0iu6 co see some of my old classmates from high school on our tour. First, we’ll travel to Strawberry, Arkansas, where Ron Wiseman and Mike Hartup are madly at work completing their new book, How to Wine and Dine the Gentler Sex. Next, let’s hop over to John Brown University where Prof. Les Kline has just put his new book, I Grew Up on Nutri-Bio, on sale. Our next stop is Detroit where we find Terry Baugher in charge of public relations at General Motors. Not far away is Jackie Caywood using Lake Erie as a pond for her little tadpoles. (We call her Frog!) We stop next in New York City where we find Jean Menzie in the branch office of her country-wide wiener factory. Let's stop in at the T.V. studio where Larry Neely has just taken over the Debbie Drake Show . Now we board the subway. I see that Madame Rebecca Davenport is telling fortunes underground. Look at the headlines of that newspaper! Can it be? Duke Terry Mauzy Accepts Maiden Maureen's Proposal for Marriage! At last. Now to Broadway where we find Jackie Kuhn appearing with that famous vocal trio Peter, Paul, and Almond Jackie . This is Fifth Avenue and there is the office building where Cheryl Didier is the private secretary of Steve Angel, rich business tycoon'. We are now leaving New York for Washington, D.C. Aha! There’s a familiar name on a poster. Steve Snyder for city curb-painter. Vote Democratic all the way. Democratic? Oh well. Why, there's Judy Kunce and she's just received her MRS. degree from White's Institute. . .Joe's that is. Yes, that's the Atlantic below, and there's the coast of Africa. Now we can even see people. Why, it's Richard Stanley Roose rescuing Mel Livingston Watson on the African Queen. He seems to have things under control. Our next stop is Arabia. Well, there's Mar-sha Shock and.. .oh, no! She's driving a DX truck for the young sheik. Now we're hovering over Moscow. There's the glow of Bixler's Red-dot No-Lick Flashbulbs . We also find Dave Anderson who has invented a Varoom gun to go with his Varoom bike. (The Reds are after the plans?) We are now headed for France where we find George Andre Kelsey having his ponytail trimmed by Cathy Whitacre who recently bought out Miss Clairol. East to Viet Nam, we’ll meet Sandy Bell, who is a sergeant at the USMC boot camp. Now we're approaching South America and there’s Chile’s foremost author, Jim Hunt, who's just completing his autobiography, I Was a Varsity Drop-out. Our first stop back in the USA is Selma, Alabama so we can visit Tom Hoffert, the first Caucasian to play for the Globe Trotters. Our next stop is California at the Hangover Recording Studios where that new singing sensation, Roddie Hine, has just recorded Chug-a-lug . Down the street is the local kennel club and Dan Sullivan has developed a stronger dog leash and collar which Sherri is currently testing.. .on him. Class Prophecy (continued) Next stop is Indianapolis. There's the track of the famous 500 race. Why, there's Sharon Zoom Hinesley in her Lotus Hinesley pulling into the pit, and who else but Vicki Hill is there on the pit crew! And there's Jerry Holle in the infield still testing '54 Fords before they go on the market. That’s the IU campus below where Jim Goddard is studying medicine and specializing in Burns . On to Ft. Wayne we see the Old Crown Brewery where Leonard Burns has just replaced your old friend Joe Wheeler. Closer to home is the Warsaw Boys’ Club where Frani Baugher is recreation director. We'll find Craig Kemper at Mt. Wawasee. He's the bouncer. And below is Kim Trestrail's lastest project, the Hoss Hills division of the Let's Improve Your Playgrounds program. Now we're over North Webster. To your left is Candy Massey's house where the home office of Massey-Ferguson is located. Next is the school gym and Craig Baker has succeeded Donnie Butts as head coach. There's Lyle Electric and Rex Barber is the head floor-sweeper. The Mermaid Festival is in town and there's Tom Moore in a booth painting sweat-shirts. Before continuing through town, let’s see what's going on at the lakes. On Tippy Bruce Pierce is running GTO canoes. Sue LaFollette owns Tippy Gardens now. It looks like Webster's sheriff, Mike Minnick, is out here to keep order, along with his deputy, Don Gest. Back in town, you see the sign for Fee's His and Her Shop where Randy Eckley is in charge of the ladies' lingerie department. Over to your right is the home of that AAU star, Jenilee Lundy. On the south edge of town we see Chuck Turner is still with Gray's Market. But wait. Now he's head carry-out boy! Good Work, boy! In the pill department of Gray’s we find Tom Brindle, who's been a professional hypochondriac for the last twenty years! Cheryl Beezely has her office here in the shopping center. You know, Beezley’s Excavating? On down you'll notice the main office of the North Webster Chapter of the Playboy Club. If you look closely you may see a Bunnie or two. Why yes. There's Vicki Miller, Dorothy Strand, Jeri Gansert, Wanda Wysong, Donna Wolf, and last but not least, Joann Menzie. Just a little bit south of town we find Judy Hardin at work. She is now the head of a new company that manufactures a marvelous deodorant... called Ice Blue Librarian. Across the street is Goofy Brothers and Bev Greider is here to repair lawn mowers. Last on our list is the Fish Hatchery. Under that clump of trees you’ll no doubt find Terry Kiser and Bob Sandborn, still boozin' buddies. Well, that completes our tour. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Remember your old tour guide, Ray J.B. Weaver, and don't forget, It's cold turkey, folks!!! 49 'ZittcCesi- eCcid4 Ke t '?'te 6 Ke i Zt6 tyuute 7t6 tfaute Sfe 6 Wf 51 66” E. Alvey J. Baker R. Beezley G. Beismeyer S. Black C. Breedlove E. Each class, ninth through twelfth, selects a candidate. Then the students choose the new queen by popular vote. The function, sponsored by the Student Council, was emceed by Rod Hine, Student Council President. Jackie Caywood was crowned Homecoming Queen for 1965 by Mr. Bryant, our principal, at the first home game, played against Larwill. Miss Caywood. a Senior, who succeeded Aloha Moser as queen, has been class secretary for four years, was active in pep club, and acted in both class plays. Jackie, who will reign until next year's queen is crowned, is planning to attend Ball State University. 84 tZuecH — (fy tt£az (ZCKCt The selection of the Kosciusko County Fair Queen candidates is fairly simple. The Junior class of each school nominates a candidate to represent that school. The final selection of the queen is determined by the one cent per vote system, with the proceeds going toward a speech and hearing therapy program. This years representative is Miss Cynthia Haines. Cynthia is a junior, a Varsity cheerleader, a member of the High School Band, and of the High School Choir. Cynthia's campaigning will continue all through the summer months. Final selection will be made in the first week of August. 85 'peAtival 2.aee t — jlae ie tfcufcvoott For a great many years, during the last week of June, the annual Mermaid Festival is held. This event is sponsored by the Lions Club. Each town is asked to select one girl to represent their school in this event. At the climax of the annual Mermaid Parade the selection of the Mermaid Queen is made. This is done by a board of judges. This year N. W.H.S. is represented by Miss Jackie Caywood. Jackie is a Senior, class secretary, active in pep club, both class plays, and choir. During the summer, she will be busy planning the decorations of her conveyance as will all the candidates. 86 (PAenyC 'DtcUen — Skocv 2uee t — 965 Something new was added for the Winter Fantasy Dance for 1965. The dance was opened to all four schools in the Lakeland School Corporation, including Leesburg, Syracuse, Milford, and Webster. Each school was instructed to select a single candidate who would then compete in the final contest on the night of the dance. The highlight dance of the winter was attended by couples from each school in the corporation. At the deadline hour, the votes were counted and emcee Dan Sullivan announced that Cheryl Did-ier was the new Snow Queen, for 1965. Miss Didier, crowned by Mr. Bryant, is a Senior this year and she has been a member of the high school band for four years, the dance band for three years, and was a member of both play casts. The dance was sponsored by the class of 1965. The evening was graced by the music of the Bill Briscoe Quartet. 87 SWtfe 'Ptence — School — ?65 Bruce, a senior, was elected School King at the annual King and Queen Dance. Bruce, who was crowned by Mr. Bryant, was Class Secretary in his freshman year and has been Class Treasurer for the past three years. He has been very active in basketball, track, cross country, baseball, ping pong, and art club. He was a member of the Junior Play cast Annie Get Your Gun. Bruce was attended by Barry Reasoner, prince, and Sue Roose, princess. After leading the Grand March with Dorothy Strand, the other senior candidate. Master of Ceremonies, Dick Roose, announced Bruce Pierce the new School King for 1965. Bruce was crowned by Mr. Bryant and was escorted to the throne by last year's King, Mr. Tom Moore. (Zandy etK6en — ScAoot 2uee t — f ?65 Two weeks of extensive campaigning were climaxed by the annual King and Queen Dance. On the big night, the tension mounted as the music played on... and on... until 10:00 o’clock when the campaign money was counted, and a new king and queen were known only to those of the inner sanctum. After the candidates were presented to all in attendance, the moment came when Dick Roose, Master of Ceremonies, announced that Candy Leinker was the new school queen for 1965. Miss Leinker was crowned by Mr. Bryant, our school principal. Candy is a Sophomore and a cheerleader. Jenilee Lundy, queen of 1964, welcomed Queen Candy. 89 Entire cast including our Director, Mr. Kline, and lighting, scenery, and sound departments. Senior Play cast in costume.
