One more class has just been added. To that list from Webster High Which has just rec'd its sheepskins, For their work in days gone by. Now we glance into the future With a careful searching eye. Hoping that the years before us. Will bring forth a 'Throne on High'. We, the class of 1955, dedicate our annual this year to Mr. Robert L. Ritchie. Through his help, as well as the help of many others, he, as principal of the school has aided us in starting out on life's great adventure. 2 ROBERT L. I have neglected you for the past two weekj, due to my tour in connection with my position as head salesman of the Caskey Casket Corporation. I have toured the United States to find out just what people really think of Caskey's Caskets. They are roomier, warmer, and -- well we won't go into that. What I really wanted to tell you was of the meeting of all my old classmates of the graduating class of 1955 of our dear old alma mater - North Webster High. For the trip I drove my Jaguar and my first stop was at a newly opened gas station just outside of Chicago, Freeman's 66. Jim is doing right well. He is the proud owner of his new 80 pump station, a new oldsmobile, five sons, three daughters and a champion beagle -hound. 1 found out from Jim that another of my classmates resided in Chicago. He told me of J. Rodney Baughn who is director and producer of the recently reopened Meskie Theatre. My, what a place! They sayl ! Leaving Freeman's 66, I went on into the main part of town. Seeing a sign with a picture of a sparkling coke on it and the temperature being in the high ninties, I decided to stop at one of Myers luxurious drug stores. After sitting down 1 was approached by a waitress and who do you think it was. Yes, you're right, Judy Koontz. Judy told me that she had been working here for seven years, but expected to quit this coming November due to the fact that she is going to be married. Leaving Chicago, my next stop was Fon-Du-Lac, Wisconsin. Here I planned to stay on a beautiful four-hundred acre farm just outside of Fon-Du-Lac, which by the way is owned and operated by John and Lorene Weimer, with the help of their five lovely little daughters. Getting an early start in the morning, I drove till about two o'clock in the afternoon which brought me to the outskirts of Spokanne, Washington. My that Jaguar’s fast! Adding a political touch to my survey, I visited the mansion of Washington’s governor - Mr. Donald Heche. Donnie and Nance have two sons, which he hopes will follow in their father's footsteps. The following morning finds me in Hollywood, California. At the comer of Hollywood and Vine, I ran into another one of my classmates - Phil Fidler. Phil told me how he and John Valentine came out here right after their graduation from school with nothing but a wish, and now they had more than a wish as you see Diary, they own three of the biggest taverns in California. Needing a haircut, and there being a barber shop right across the street, I went over. Boy was I ever surprised when I saw who the barber was, you'd never guess, - Charles Richards- I stuck around until noon hour and then Charlie and I went down a ways to a new restaurant for dinner. Charlie told me that he always ate dinner here, for his good friend, Terry Hartup, really put out swell meals and plenty reasonable too. My next stop was at the Mercy Hospital at El Paso, Texas. The purpose of this stop was to visit my good friend, Harley Mock, Harley explained to me that he had a little accident. He said he was going into town to check on the output of his oil wells, when for no reason at all, his car turned over. I asked Harley about how fast he was going, he said, Oh-about 15 miles per. Going on through Texas I thought it would be nice to visit the University from which I graduated - The University of Alabama. 1 hardly knew any of the staff, but I was sure surprised to find out that Ted Engleberth was the head Physics Professor. While taIking to Ted, he mentioned that two more of our classmates were on the University staff. Ted said that the Varsity coach of the University was Jack Mort, while in the Women's Physical Education Department, Noreta Henwood taught Ju-Jit-Su. 1 also was informed that Beverly Tom was employed as a stewardess by TransWorld Airlines in the northern part of the state. From Alabama I continued on my way. With dusk falling 1 decided it would be wise to stop at one of the many motels along the highway to catch up on some badly needed sleep. Just outside of Tampa, Florida, up the road, 1 spotted a brightly lighted sign which read, Minear’s Motels. Pulling up to the office 1 was met by my old classmate Hal Minear. Hal said that he was doing right well and that he expected to retire in about 5 years. I also learned that Beverly Beckler owned and operated her own beauty salon on the west side of Tampa, although, 1 went to her home several times 1 failed to see her as 1 heard her time was pretty well taken care of by a few of her male friends; namely -millionaire playboys. While browsing through the newspapers and magazines in the main lounge of the motel, who should walk in, but Jim Eberly. In conversation with Jim 1 learned that he was on vacation from his strenous job as principal of our old alma mater. He said that he was going to stay here overnight on his way to the Everglades where he planned to hunt wild boar with Tom Kruger, who is now a famous experienced guide of the Glades. Leaving Florida, 1 went northward to South Carolina. While eating in a cafeteria in the capital city, I heard an outburst of shouts and whistling. Walking through the door were two Wac’s, followed by a small crowd of sailors. Their faces looked familiar, yes, it was Donna Fidler and Sharon Ladd. They didn't notice me, so 1 went over to their table. Sharon said that they had just graduated from technical school the previous afternoon and that they expected to be shipped to Germany in the near future. While on my way home, traveling at a mere sixty miles per hour, I noticed a beautiful four tone Cadillac stalled along the highway. Stopping to see if I could help, I called to the man who was looking under the hood. As he answered I recognized his voice right away. Yes, It was Ed Niles. He told me that he was playing the stock market and was doing real well. After finding out that he had ran out of gas, I pushed him down the road a few miles to a filling station. I was all too glad when I saw the sign that read Gary, Indiana, 22 miles. It sure looked good after a trip like that. Pulling into the driveway 1 was greeted by my next door neighbor and her two sets of twins. My next door neighbor is no other than Betty Keim. Betty has done all right. Ciic is now the wife of a multi-millionaire who just patented a new and oncoming invention. Well, that concludes my trip and I returned home to my family tired and worn out, but very glad that I had been able to sec all my old classmates. It was gratifying to know die class of 1955 had all turned out so well. Jay Boyer Mr. Metzger, Driver Training T eacher. Dear Diary: Believe Me???
