In May '84, the Mind Olympics team from North Warren proved its of Q ability at world competition in Akron, Ohio. Earlier in the year the Chariots of Rescue team had won first place at regional competition in West Milford. This then qualified them for state competition at Glassboro State College where they also placed first in their division. Their next stop would be world competition where the team lconsisting of Dave Barnes, Neil Hamilton, Vince Mazzei, Frank Seesink, Dan Novi, John Repasky, Gale Treible, and Elleke Seesinkl would represent the state of New Jersey. The competition was among 29 states and 2 provinces of Canada. Against very strong competition, North Warren placed 2nd in the world. In addition to individual medals and a trophy for the school, the team received a letter of congratulation from Governor Kean. The team would like to thank Mr. DeHaven for being a fantastic coach and Mrs. Brownell for being a terrific chaperone. Last year it was decided by the senior class and the yearbook staff to make a sixteen page overrun that included spring 1984 activities. A canister sale was held in order to raise money for the overrun. The 1984 seniors will receive these sixteen pages to keep with their yearbooks. Hopefully this will be a success and we will continue it in the future so events such as graduation and the prom can be included in the yearbook. in 'Tw .Mi .... THE END OF A SEASON The end of a hockey season has gone and past, And for some people they sit back and say, at last. Seniors end the year and give back their sticks, No more pushpasses, drives, scoops, dodges, or flicks. The teachers go back to a seven hour day, And the players all go on their own direct way, You get to go early which is really great, And no arriving home at hours that are late. But as the season ends we're all kinda sad, Because we realize we'll miss the friends that welve had. But the juniors look forward to lots more fun, Because next year we'll strive to be number one. .X'4'Q Camera. , r .j?-... 1 Kathy Anderson was selected as a member of the DRC Field Hockey All Stars, first team. Hosts Exchange Teacher SIP- V 'iw' As special assistant to the field hockey teams, Miss Campbell gives the girls some pointers on improving their skills. Miss Pat Campbell is North Warren's first ex- change teacher. She is from Scotland and is here through the Fulbright Exchange Program. Each year this organization invites teachers from all subject areas to participate in the exchange program. There is no age limit and married teachers may take their families. This year, Miss Masson, a health and physical education teacher from North Warren is in Scotland. Both she and Miss Campbell will return home in August 1985. This experience, however, is not the first time Miss Campbell has been to the United States. Four years ago she spent the summer here for a field hockey camp. At home, Miss Campbell taught physical education for grades seven through twelve. She played on the National Scottish Honor Indoor Field Hockey Team for three years. She was also selected to play on the Outdoor Scottish Touring Team. In addition to field hockey, Miss Campbell enjoys skiing, tennis, basket- ball, reading, and listening to music. Here at North Warren, Miss Campbell teaches seventh and eleventh grade health and senior high school physical education, She was also a special assistant to the field hockey teams. Her expertise and enthusiasm gave the girls additional knowledge and skills. Reality will hit us hard, no longer will we be able to fall back on the day-to- day routine. Our roads are about to diverge in a yellow wood, our futures. Whether we choose the one less travel- ed by, as Robert Frost did, or tramp down the beaten path, we will finally become our own persons. Whatever road you choose - job, college, military, or marriage - I hope it brings you satisfaction and happiness. Finally, I wish to thank all of you and the faculty here for making my high school days very, shall we say, in- teresting? I won't soon forget any of my days at North Warren, and I sincerely hope you all remember them as I do. And, when, in ten years or so, when someone says to you, Hey, remember when . . .'? , just smile. Respectfully yours, To the Senior Class of 1985: Each fall, nature triggers a response in migratory birds that tell them it's time to leave. From a place that provided nourishment, they are com- pelled to travel long distances, searching for a new place to inhabit, a new home. Birds do not question what they have done. Only those too weak to survive will not make the journey. Your years at North Warren have provided you with the nourishment of knowledge, friendships, and fun, but now it's time to seek other knowledge, elsewhere. I wish each one of you success, and hope you find your niche in life. 194 Lori Sipley, CSecretaryI, Wendy Unangst, lPresidentI, Laura Nordberg, lVice-Presidentl, Traci Martin, fTreasurerl. l Mr. M.
