THE IMAGINARY IMAGE Logan Pearsall Smith once said. “All mirrors are magical mirrors, and we never see our faces in them.” Everyone has a so-called image to maintain. The idea of getting one's photograph back may destroy one’s image. To a true friend, an im- age cannot be ruined, but may be accepted with honor. An image of one's self is always put down and erased, but in a mirror or to a society, it is revived. One’s image in a picture is designed to represent the individual. You are. when all is done — just what you are. — Kelli Sibet 16 Hondl. Amy J. Howard. Jennifer Hughes. Matthew Huntley. Todd M. Hussey. Jacqueline A. Jacobson. Scott D. Jamison. Brian R. Jasicki. I said these things with a great big sigh. My hair’s in the air. I don't like it there! “It’s you. said some, It’s good,” said therest. And yet, to me it was not my best. Eventually now. I began to think clearl Everyone said it looked like me, It did, I suppose, so I said. I guess it’s me, Nobody else, It looks like me, I said with glee! SAYING GOOD-BYE Come this spring saying good-bye will be forever, because of the boundary lines for Osseo and Park Center. Gone are the days of Home Ec. and Industrial Arts, Only to add Calculas and the Fine Arts. Good-bye to good friends, and teachers who cared, and to all the good times we all shared. Someday then, we’ll all look back and say ... '86-’87 — those were the good old days. — Kristin Rhodes 23 Weiler, James M. Weiss. Jeffrey D. Weiss. Michael A. Wells. Chad J. Wheelock. Ronald A. But now you're leaving, And I don't know how to say goodbye I've shared with you My hopes and fears. You've always been there And listened to my tears. I want to tell you I love you. But time is running out. Soon we'll both have to face Days of uncertainty and doubt. I leave you with the promise That over the years. Though we may be apart I’ll always be here. — Becky Cioni TIME TO LEAVE Well, my friends, it’s time to leave. It can't be true. I don't believe. Good-bye school, good-bye friends Good-bye to all those fads and trends. It's time to leave; but that's okay. We'll all be back another day. Good-bye we will all have said. Only memories will last in our head. — Heather Boyd POETRY FOR THE YEAR BOOK Yo! What-sup moing? Guess what's in? If you don't wear it. it must be a sin Roll up your pants. and pin 'em tight. Wearing plaid shirts is a terrible sight. Pepsi, the new generation and Saturday Night Live. These will soon go. for they have just arrived. Segragated by the clothes on our backs. From day to day we must decide What side of the fads That we want to be on. Some choose to set their own fads To be individualistic But are referred to as as “weird. This is wrong; they aren't. Then there are some who totally go With fads by conforming themselves To what everyone else is wearing or What is in. I guess that's what they want; This is normal. We all seem to take risks with what We wear And some take a bigger chance Than others. But under these clothes we are All the same people. Or do the clothes make the person? — Liz Fisette VIRTUOSO Why do people tease other people who are less fortunate than they are? Does it make them feel strong and in control? If that's the reason, then they are the people with the problem. No one asks to be handicapped, poor or shy. These are the facts of life. No one is a virtuoso and no matter how hard someone may try. it will never be. Why do people tease other people who are less fortunate than they are? Does it make them feel strong and in control? If that's the reason, then these people have a lot to learn about life. — Donielle Jerome — Jim Weiler POETRY FADS ARE RAD Fads are changing in and out. People scurry all about. To get the things that are in now. So when you come to school everybody thinks. ’‘Wow! You better hurry ’cause now's your chance, to be in style and pin up your pants. Some people like to be ahead of the fad. because they think that’s pretty ■’rad. But don't get worried and don’t get mad. If you can’t stay ahead of the fad. — Ben Scharff WHAT WENT WRONG? Jealousy, anger, they hurt inside. All these feelings, that I had to hide. I think to myself. Why was it me. Was this coming, and I iust didn't see?” I asked myself What did I do? But now I know it was just you. Why did you throw everything away. I thought we had it all. and nothing to complain. I guess I was wrong, and maybe you were. too. But all I know is that I still love you. THE IDEA OF IDENTITY — Beth Nelson Identity is brought on by myself by my actions, emotions, and feelings. I cannot hide my identity; I am who I am and I must live up to my standards. It matters what I am inside; that forms me into myself. A strong sense of identity gives me a feeling of strength. No matter how hard I try to change myself into someone else. I will be what I am. I'm proud to be me! — Veda Pai FADS ARE IN OUR IMAGE All mirrors are magical mirrors and we never see our faces in them. This statement is very true. for. when we get our pictures back, we cannot admit that it really is us that we are looking at. We run to our friends to show them how miserable our pictures have turned out. They comfort us and stress all the good things in our pictures. No matter how good a photo we may have taken, we manage to find something we dislike about them, including hair, smile and clothing. I wish mirrors would emphasize all the good points and make vanish all the flaws a person my have. — Polina Markelova IS THAT WHAT I LOOK LIKE? All mirrors are magical mirrors, they never tell us what we really look like. said Smith in 1931.1 couldn’t agree more! Imagine the pictures are back and passed out to my class. Is that what I look like?” My hair wasn't like that! The mirror agreed. It told me it wasn't like that before the picture. (But I guess it was.) I didn’t smile like that! Did I? The mirror told me I didn't. My friends told me I did. I guess the best mirror is a good friend . — Shannon Braun It’s great, it's fun. it's really rad. how everyone fits in with the fad. Going to the movies and parties too. those are the things we like to do. Eating pizza. Doritoes and pop. is fun to do just after we shop. Wearing Guess. So Morris takes it right through and in While Giant's fans just give 'em a grin. Then on the other side we have Elway's crew. The Broncos are wearing orange, white and blue. Then you have Elway throwing it deep to Vance, but the Giants say. You don't have a chance. 39-20 isn't just getting beat. It's what you call a major defeat. But you'd better watch out 'cause the Broncos will be back to get another Superbowl crack.
