Along with ha ving lots of fun, they 've made lots of additions to their treasury. The work started last fall as the spirited sopho- mores held their first bike-a-thon. They rode 20 miles and had loads of fun! To end up the year, the sophomores held a dance- a-thon which was a great success. Everyone had a really good time! The sophomores were lucky to have such a great advisor as Mr. Baker. Keep it up '84! Let's make the next 2 years even better. The long-range goal of the “prom” was their only thought and concern. Through the selling of candy bars, fruitcakes, basketball concession sales, and the collection of aluminum cans their goal became reality. This year has resulted in growth, maturity and the pulling together of the students to form a solid class of “83 — united and ready for their senior Kelly Jones Tonya Jones Jack Kirby Scott Kirkpatrick Jerry Klaiber Marilyn Kougher Jeff Krawczyk Craig Laird Karen Marshall Michele Martin Chris Mathys Robbi May Cindy Mayberry Skip McElroy Brian McFadden Tim Monroe Jay Mueck Chris Neil Duane Nickles Tammy Oberdier David Ogan David Olson Joy Parsons Tim Payne 21 David Poling Dave Preston Rick Reese Gary Reidmiller Patty Richards Shelly Ridge Stephanie Savage Joel Schell Mike Schmelzer Teresa Scott Rich Sellers Brian Shields 22 George Showalter Joe Smith Matt Smith Brian Sprouse Carl Spurlock Chris Stacy Julia Stevens Lisa Stimmel Melissa Swope Johnna Tucker Don Tumeo Mike Tumeo Dean Wedding Mike Wilds Greg Wiley Jean Williams Doug Wilson Curtis Wykofl Not Pictured: Butch Craft Keith Flach Kathleen Hamilton Alan Lusk Kevin Wood CLASS OF 1982 26 John Paul Bialecki Candy Lynn Botkins Michele LaWayne Brady Richard Gerard Brill Charles Michael Brown Waldemar Wilhelm Buettner, Jr. Michael Allen Butcher Michael Ray Chapman Mark Todd Clevenger Kellie Lynn Cooperider Keith Cramer Kimberly Sue Crofut Elizabeth Dean Kevin Lee Dotson Roger Vincent Dysert Laura Iva Eagleston Sherry Lavonne Farrington Billy Joe Ferguson Nathan Leroy Fornder Alex Todd Frederick Penny Sue Gallant Jamie Lynn Gilliland Dawn Michelle Goodrich Robin Renee Goodwin Robert James Graham Belinda Anne Griffith Jeffrey Douglas Guseman Tonya LaNaye Names Brian Charles Hall Richard Alan Harpei Barbara Ann Harrison Mark Calvin Hatmaker Penny Ann Higginbotham Mary Margaret Holcomb Penny Lynne Hoover Terry Allen Howell Susan Lynn Huckaba Anne Louise Jimenez Mary Catherine Jolliff Sherrie Renae Jones Tamara Jean Krearner David Leroy Krebehenne Betty Jean Lavender 32 Dwight Spencer McMahon Sandra Dee Martin William Martin Ma or Ross Ward Moore Suzanne Mane Miller Merry Catherine Northrop Angela Jean Mowery Carmen Michelle Parish Steven W. It was great fun to work with a class which possesed these kinds of attributes; but, after being with them I found that there was much more to them than excitement. They were willing to work hard and to organize with great detail as they did when they presented the 1981 Junior-Senior Prom, The 01' South. Talent, talent, and more talent was displayed by this class in the areas of art, music, and leadership. If I were to pick one quality to indentify the Class of '82, it would be respect. The respect they had for one another, their school, their teachers, and themselves was and will continue to be ongoing. This type ol respect will make positive life goals more possible. A very inexperienced team, led by only four returning lettermen, faced the task of learning a different system under an entirely new coaching staff. The team was characterized by a refusal to quit and improved throughout the season. The won loss record was a source of frustration for both players and coaches. However, this was outweighed by the realization that with their hard work and good attitude, the 1981 squad was laying the basis for the future success of the Wildcat football team. 88 NU OPP 2nd Big Wlnut 1st Grandview 3rd 1st Olentangy 2nd Jon. Highlights of the campaign included the honor of being NU’s first CBL championship team ... and second time district champs. Eight of the Lady Cats were elected for honors In the CBL. 1st team award winners were: Kim Wenger, Belinda Griffith, Shelley Ridge, and Lori Phipps; 2nd team followed with Barb Parish, Shelley Laird, Dawn Eastman, and Candy Botkins. The team will definitely miss the eight seniors who graduated, but there is little doubt that the 'Cats will be strong in 1983. The girls softball team gives a special thank you to Coach Nancy Rubeck and to Chuck McNamee who contributed greatly to the success of the squad. ing No, the 1982 yearbook has not been dedicated to one Alex Fredrick — although it could be. Alex, a senior, won the CBL pole vault championship held at NUHS. Alex led the field with an outstanding vault of 12 ft. 6 in. He also garnered AII CBL honors for his efforts. Not bad for someone who had not before participated in High School Track during his athletic career. no NU BOYS TRACK '82 Track Team Members Front row — M. Wilds, K. With only the loss of 3 fine seniors, (A. Fredrick, M. Clevenger, K. Kirk), NUHS should field a stronger team. Much is expected of some youngsters — particulary rookie Jeff Parish — who showed a lot of promise and potential. Thursday night, before the big game, a community Snake Dance winded down to the high school where an enthusiastic crowd gathered around a Bonfire to motivate the team on to victory. Friday night’s blustery weathery didn't dampen the Wildcat Spirit as we played a tough game but came up short to the Grandview Bobcats 32 0. Kevin Kirk had 10 tackles, and we held a known “passing team to only 45 yards in 4 for 14 tries. The pre game ceremonies announced Mary Holcomb as the 1981-82 Homecoming Queen. For the 198182 school year, NUHS Student Council worked on many goals and activities. They improved communication among students, faculty, and administration through homeroom reports, newsletters, calendars, and teacher appreciation days. Also, they developed and increased school spirit by holding dances, spirit weeks, numerous homecoming activites, and assemblies. Improvements made within the community through Public Relations were successful. Student Council provided Winter Wonderland with Santa. Muscular Dystrophy projects. The Class of 83 had transformed the halls and cafeteria into a luxury liner and the gymnasium had become an Island of Paradise. The gym s decorations consisted of a Pirate s Cove featuring snacks and soft drinks for the guests, a deserted island of sand, shells and various other Caribbean decorations. Music was provided by New World Entertainment. During the prom, couples could stroll into the courtyard, view short movies in the library and enjoy pinball games. The evening’s activities were concluded with the showing of a 3-D movie — which most of the guests found to be a unique experience. An overall enjoyable evening was had by all. 136 Bud and Lon Brian and Jane. 1 PATRON Parents Of Graduated Seniors Jesse and Charlene Conrad Dr. and Mrs. Charles W.
