During pre-game ceremonies it was announced that Ruthie Rob- erts was our 1981 Homecoming Queen. She was crowned by last year’s queen Mary Miller Wycoff. After a hard fight the ’Cats were defeated in the fourth quar- ter 6-0. Homecoming Game 11 NU SUPPORTS THE HOSTAGES 14 Candids 15 IN MEMORIAM In the spirit of respect and fondness. Coach Gardner cited the loss in the Ridgedale Tournament as the biggest disappoint- ment in an otherwise “out- standing year.” Highlights of the ’81 cam- paign included ... A double thrashing of arch-rival Mar- ysville. NU defeated the Monarchs 14-4 on Wildcat turf . . . and then disman- tled them in the return match 19-4 . . . Rich Kelly had the season’s only shu- tout . . . blanking the Spar- tans of Marion Pleasant 2-0 .. . The Wildcats also took the measure of Bexley twice . . . winning at Bexley 4-3 in extra innings . . . and then trouncing the Lions 11-3 at home . . . Perhaps the sweetest win of the year came on the road at Dublin when Rich Kelly came on in relief of himself (he buckled down after appearing to fade) to preserve a 7-4 victory . . . Certainly with the graduation of several seniors from the Varsity ... the Reserve team will be well represented on the 1982 Varsity. 59 Baseball Back row, l-r; Manager, Christy McMahon, Michelle Shearer, Valerie Robinson, Shari Hall, Shelley Evans, Connie Davis, Pam Hoover, Jane Blue, Coach, Mrs. Brown; front row, l-r; Sally Speyer, Judy Dean, Lisa Stlmmel, Deanna Harr, Kathy Hamilton, Tonya Jones Sally Speyer Senior Co-Captain Judy Dean Senior Co-Captain 60 Girls Track The North Union Girls Track CBL Standing was 9th.
