Mr. Fetter - Superintendent Entering the decade of the seventies we are faced with problems of over-population, environ- mental contamination, delicate uncertain human re- lations and many others. Young people have acquired new freedom to do many things and now must learn to accept responsibility for their actions. The task of Growing-up is not an easy one. The vast increase in knowledge demands that we not only make the best use of our years of formal education but also that we continue our education throughout our lives. In addition to accumulating information and acquiring job skills, it is necessary for each person to develop moral, ethical and religious stand- ards and to establish limits in relation to the use of drugs, narcotics, alcohol and tobacco. Many of these decisions must be made relatively early in life. A happy and successful life requires planning, dedica- tion, faith, and a considerable amount of effort. With all of the potential problems, life in the seventies should be faced with anticipation, determi- nation, and optimism. I wish each student and mem- ber of the staff of North Union High School the ful- fillment of his highest hopes and fondest dreams.
