It must be built consciously, carefully, cooperatively, and purpose- fully by students, the public, and the professional staff. It requires diligence and earnest work toward rewards that sometimes seem far away; it requires investment in the future without hope of personal gain; it requires dedication not called for in a contract or always reflected in a salary schedule; it requires devotion to a common purpose. The emergence of North Union High School as a single entity is a major step toward making excellence possible. Specifically, the Guidance Department is concerned with the following: Educational Counseling Vocational Counseling Personal-Social Counseling Administration of the school testing program All students are most welcome to use the facilities offered by the Guidance and Counsel- ing Department. GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING DEPARTMENT At the high school level, in cooperation with the rest of the guidance department, we have been doing a great deal of work with vocational and educational counseling. We have developed a College Night for North Union students and parents. For the use of future juniors and seniors of NU, we are beginning a follow-up study of recent graduates. Mr. Donald Parsons Ohio University It seems to me that because most indi- viduals are rational humans, with proper aid they are capable of making their own decisions. It is within this philosophy that I approach counseling in school.
