PAC it i HE age old adage, 6'All's well that ends wellf, should be a comforting one to the members of our Faculty. lt was expected that in September 1945, a perfectly normal school year would begin with the usual prelimin- ary confusion but that eventually a precedented semester would follow. With the postponement of the opening of school, the members ol the statl found it necessary to revise their programs to insure the required amount of work in a shortened period of study. There was little doubt that this could be done with the right consistency of teamwork. Witll this obstacle overcome, each department undertook the task ol' adjusting its particular phase of instruction to wartime restrictions and demands of a nation ur- gently in need of mentally, morally, and physically fit youths. The respon- sibility of instilling democratic ideals and standards lay, unquestionably, in the hands of the capable men and women presiding in the classroom. This challenge met an overwhelming response. 1535-iii ' Y

OA D OF E UCATJION R. LEONARD, Superintendent of North Tonawanda Schools, in cooperation with the Board of Education has completed another school year. Helpful and whole-hearted assistance was given them by Mr. Moses, attorney, and Mr. Krueger, clerk. Among the members of the Board we find: a doctor-Dr. Reszel, Presi- dent, a real estate man--Mr. Trimble, Vice-president, a lumberman-Mr. Gombertg a druggistw-Mr. Smith, a chemist at Durez General Plastics- Mr. Simpson. In addition to their own important and varied duties, these citizens still find time to interest themselves in the school, its activities, and its stud- ent body. Textbooks, budgets, athletics, all come under the careful super- vision of the Board. For the splendid work achieved by these men the students of N. T. H. S. are deeply appreciative. ik For over twenty-five years Mrs. Coletta Smith gave willingly her time and interests in behalf of N. T. students and their needs. At Commence- ments, special assemblies, football banquets, she was a welcome and graci- ous guest. Progressive changes always received her support. We thank you, Mrs. Smith. Back: G.
