During the regular season we compiled a 4-2 record including a close victory over a strong W. I. team. We showed up well in the Westchester Track Coaches and Officials Association meet running be- hind three Class A schools. The climax of the season came when we took First in the Section I meet. This enabled us to send a team to the state meet in Schen- ectady. Much of the team's success was due to the great running of sophomore star, Bill Wessel. He was sup- ported by co-captains Bruce Capossela and Ray Levesque, Vic McCartney, Clarence Berry, Bob Lun- dy, George Smith, Carl Olsen and Wayne Hamilton. TH EH The 1954 edition of the Headless Horsemen Track Team turned in a record to be proud of. Their only defeat in five meets came at the hands of Peekskill. This was N. T. first loss in Hudson River League competition in six years. Aside from this one loss, Coach Doc. Rasbeck coached a team who were steady winners and outstanding in indivdiual com- petition. This year promises to be one with an equally fine showing. The Headless Horsemen baseball squad will take the field this year with reduced ranks due to gradu- ation. This year the field seems to be wide open and Coach Willmott is looking forward to a promising crop of new talent. It is hoped that the new comers will supply that needed spark under the veterans. From here it seems that only three positions are fairly well nailed down Jack Nicholson in center Held, Buddy Speno at shortstop, and Charley Mc- Loughlin behind the plate are. sure starters. The Double Quartet really numbers sixteen girls who are chosen from members of the Clef Club. They have lunch rehearsals at least once a week, and are frequently invited to appear at community af- fairs, and service clubs. The eight girls who will appear at the public performances are chosen on the basis of seniority and attendance. They receive no school credit for their work, but do it for their own enjoyment. Miss Ferris, the vocal director at N. T. trains the girls, but when they appear at a public performance, they sing without direction. Margaret Kolarich, is the accompanist for the Double Quartet. 70 ALL STATE IIHIJH S At piano Mlss Helen Ferris lst row left to rzgbl Janet Smrth Ann Shaw Dorothy Porcano Joanne Brancato Betty Evans Harleen Stelner Erleen Herlxhy Rose Sraglrano 7nd :ou Charles Stagllano George Smrth Paul Drahos Thomas Lee Joseph Levesque Joseph Prusalt John Janos When Thanksgrvmg rs over srxteen students from North Tarrytown Hugh begm to thmk of the ap proachmg day when they wlll travel to Whlte Plams for two days of pracnce vuth a group of some four hundred hlgh schoolers from all over Westchester Thls IS the All State group that meets once a year to gxve a concert Each school sends students who are ID muslc groups and who enjoy Slflglng The muslc IS dlfhcult but mterestmg and those people who go consnder themselves fortunate to come rn Contact ruth other smgers and a Hne conductor The musnc IS learned at the mdxvndual schools some weeks before the whole group practrces together, and rn tl'11s way the 1ltos tenors sopranos and basses can synchromze therr work easxly Thrs concert IS the largest that hugh school puplls put on durlng the year and IS well attended and acclarmed 71 ffX 019 9 QQQS X X 5 X - ,m .-5 . iv .
