THE COACHING STAFF CONSISTED OF: Football-A. D. Hall, Coach, J. V. Football-Richard Bader, Coach: SPORTS REVIEW This year showed increased participation in the Athletic Program at North Syra- cuse. The Northmen participate in the A. B. Division in the Onondaga County League in the following sports, Football, Varsity and Junior Varsity, Basketball, Varsity and Junior Varsity and Freshman, Baseball, Varsity and Junior Varsity and Freshman, Soccer, Cross Country, Track, Bowling and golf. ln addition to the above, the Northmen are members of the Central New York Wrestling league. The gymnastic team competes in the Section Ill winter carnival, and holds meets with Syracuse Central and Onondaga Valley Academy. Last year the Gymnastic Team won the Section Ill Novice Tournament at Watertown. The boys also compete in the Section lll Winter Carnival in bowling, volleyball, badmin- ton and table tennis. The girls' sports program includes invitation games, intramurals and play days. The girls' activities consist of Archery, spring and fall, softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball and bowling. Cheerleading and marching athletics are governed by the Athletic Council which is the Executive Committee of the Athletic Association. They are assisted by the Advisory Committee on Physical Education and Recreation. The Highlight of the Sport Season is the Block Letter Banquet held in June when awards are given to both the boy and girl athletes. Last year Dave Giusti won the Tobe Thornton memorial trophy given to the outstanding athlete of the year. Len Obergfell won the Varsity Club trophy presented for Athletic Leadership and Scholarship. Miss Diane Shetron presented the girls' achievement trophy to Miss Joan Gurnzy. Other girl trophy winners were: Mariorie Wilson, Barbara Stockton. At the close of the football season, the Advisory Committee sponsored a father and son night for the football squad. Movies of the home games were shown and refreshments served. The North Syracuse Police Athletic League presented indi- vidual Oscars to each letterman and a large trophy to the school. John Nugent, John Halosky, sistant Coach. FOOTBALL For the third time in four years, the Northmen were Co-Champions in the Onondaga County League, This year's team won six games and tied one A well co-orclinated attack made them the highest scoring team in the league. Pike and Giusti were outstanding stars in the backfield, both making All-County while San Filippi and John Stasko were outstanding in the line Pike was the leading scqrer in the County while Giusti was third. The following boys won their letter in football-ENDS: Charles Falter, Richard Ashford, Darrel Tisdall, Richard Lit-tleboy, Roger Maylone. TACKLES' John Conboy, John Cowles, Dave Gillen, Joe Boyko, John Murphy, Joe San Filippo. GUARDS: Tom Amato, Richard Dailey, Richard Davis, John Stasko CENTERS: Charles Perkins, Wayne Gratien. BACKS: Peter Bulla, Joe Kissel, Dick Pike, Paul Wilson, Ed Dyer, Barth Squires, Carl Falter, Don Winslow Dave Giusti.
