FAREWELLS Be popular! Thoughtfulness for others is the basis for popularity. The good sport is a person who does not strive for personal glory but forgets him- self in helping others enioy themselves through better play and work. Anyone who forgets himself in helping others will find friends and happiness all along the way. John Antes Commencement time will soon be here You'll leave behind all that's been dear And though you've heard all this before I want to say it iust once more . Success in life will all depend On dealings with your fellow men Your self control and loyalty Will make you what you hope to be. Dependability it's true Helps in what you want to do Society expects of you All these things, and others, too. If you'll live honestly each day Cooperate in every way Consider others as they are You'll succeed, says Betty Starr. I believe that I can honestly say. I have enioyed the seniors I have had in class. Good luck and best wishes to each senior. Esther Sleeth Best wishes for the future of the class of '54, May all your undertakings be as this yearbook. Mary Jane Gates Now the world is yours. We of the faculty offer you to the world and hope that in our little way we have helped in preparing you for whatever the world has to offer. While in high school your roots were developing -now plant them wisely upon the fertile fields of success. Mike Cortese Spring is here- The grass has rizf I wonder where the Seniors is? They're graduates - on the grass alas! They've served their time In this scholastic clime. They decked the halls- They were so iollyl They mixed lots of fun- With a little folly. Now-you can sigh With relief-l'll be brief: We bid them goodbye And good luck. Carol Katzung I would like to wish the very best of luck and success to the class of '54. l'll certainly miss those forlorn, sleepy faces in the office every morning after the last bell has rung. Barbara Horton To the class of '54 Whom I will see no more In the class room or hall At the Prom or Senior Ball To you all I wish success And I mean it, I must confess. Louis Pistolese l ...I

TEACHERS A message to the seniors: It has been a real pleasure to work with the class of '54. l want to wish each member of this class the best in life. May all your friendships be as pleasant as those formed in high school. C. R. Robbins ln 1950 l became a teacher of general science in the North Syracuse Central School. Daily l met with six classes of freshmen, you people, the class of 1954. These past four years have sped by much too rapidly for me to accomplish all of the goals that I had set. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to convey to you seniors some of my more serious thoughts and ideas for you to reflect upon as you leave your high school days behind to set forth upon a more complicated way of life. Have faith in God and faith in yourselves. Have the courage of your convictions, but keep an open mind and be the first to admit your error. Give much thought and energy to the direction of your life, make it one of purpose, for the pur- poseful Iife is the only life worth living. Have a sense of humor-life is much easier with than without. Remember, happiness is not as much a matter of position as it is of disposition. With these few thoughts I will say good-bye. I have enioyed working with you, the class of '54, and wish each and every one of you much success and happiness in the years to come. Ken MacKenzie Shall I shout Goodbye to each of you as I've had to do in many of our class meetings? No, I don't want to shout it, I don't even want to say it at all. l'm glad you've reached this part of your active, carefree life and l'll miss you. I have lots of memor- ies of you as individuals, and as a class in our various activities. But I won't say Goodbye be- 148 cause l'll see you, perhaps at an alumni affair, or a game, or on a weekend or vacation visit, or just around. Good luck! John Goessling Another four years have passed and I can say that I sincerely have enioyed them. I would like to wish the class of 1954 the best of everything in their future endeavors. John P. Wegerski Graduation is the last page of the first book of your life. The title of this book is preparation. The title of the second book is meditation. Faced with the problems of life you will question and try to find an answer for yourself alone. The third and final book is entitled dedication. To this end you labor, and are known. Roland lvers These few weeks of friendship make it hard to say goodbye. But for the many pleasures and prob- lems you have shared with me, l reluctantly say fare- well to the class of '54, with a ioy in knowing that your enthusiasm and spirit will continue to dwell at North Syracuse for years to come. Robert Gauthier I believe that ours is a purposeful existence, that each of us has something to contribute to the phy- sical, mental and spiritual well-being of all, and therefore that satisfaction and contentment will come to each of us who works honestly and ethically to fulfill his purpose. Hugo Pinti Good luck friends and keep in mind what Con- fucious said, When prosperity comes do not use all of it. Peter Scholl
