Trying to foster international understanding and friendship, they began a student exchange program between France and the United States. Since WWII the organization has grown into an internationallinter- cultural exchange program active in 60 nations and 2700 communities throughout the United States. Ursula Seubert and Martin Hunter are North Star's first AFS students. YOUTH FOR UNDERSTANDING YFU stands for Youth for Understanding and is a non-profit international student exchange organization. The YFU program is based on the cross-cultural education experience. A huge inter- national network of families have hosted over 87,000 students in the last 30 years. The students come from 25 countries in Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Far East. The YFU students range in age from 14 to 18. Our YFU student is Lisa Forsell from Denmark.
