Are Enjoyed By All At North students are offered a wide variety of activities each week-end. The attendance of many of our friends and fellow Redskins make these school sponsored events exceptionally enjoy- able. The most common among these activities are the after game and after school dances. The music department presents many concerts throughout the year, and the dramatics department gives several plays; this year we viewed the senior play, The Matchmaker, Varsity Var- ieties, and the one act plays. The Rip- plettes ' water show, The Four Winds highlighted our spring entertainment. The attractive ushers make attending plays and conc erts more enjoyable. Above one of the pretty misses escorts a couple to good seats and presents them a program. After games and other activities couples find making pizza very enjoyable. Hungrily awaiting their share are Jill Gerding, Pat Ormiston. Judy Smith, and John Fuller, while Cherry Crandall and Martin Walter do the carving. 17

Varsity Varieties Reveals Execellent Talent Beatniks and ghouls along with the Woodland Guild Players highlighted the annual variety show, Varsity Varie- ties, produced and directed by Mr. James Purkhiser and Mr. C. William Hatt. A Beatnik pad party served as a good background for guitarist, Bill Dau; accordionist, Ken Studebaker; and dancers and singers Karen Bobay, Eve Meyer, Norma Pieper, Linda High, Susan Paulson, Deanna Marguart, Nancy Sargent, Diane Scheele, Marilyn Hicks, Linda Ruch, Lucy Feichter, and Gay Fisher. The Vampire ' s Birthday Party, featuring Pat Mullins as Vampire, also set the stage for various singers and dancers. Ainsworth Chumberly of Tele- vision station WPTA was the guest per- former. All in this setting wore ghostly outfits offset by weird lighting. The Woodland Guild Players; Mrs. Wehren- berg, Mr. Fleck, Mr. Anthis, Mr. Lee, Mr. Pugh, Mr. Zimmerman, Mr. Mc- Clead, Mr. Franzman, Mrs. Houts, Mrs. Gause, Mrs. Pennington, Mrs. Light, and Miss Fleming performed a hilarious melodrama interrupted continuously by crazy songs, dances, and faculty antics. Jim Ellenwood served as Master of Ceremonies of the show. His fast jokes, adlibbing, and humorous declamation kept everyone interested. Jim ' s biggest part was in the finale when he sang Misty, Johnny Mathis style. The beatnik atmosphere sets a perfect background for Karen Bo bay ' s fast and shimmering jazz dance spectical. 18
