W. Hatt, is the first stepping stone toward be- coming a member of the concert band. Fresh- men and beginning music students make up the membership and they gain much practical experience. Without our twirling lassies, one might tind tootball and basketball games lacking in color. These charming girls spend a great deal ot time practicing and perfecting many novelty and difficult routines. With the help oi Mr. Hatt, the twirlers plan their own routines and costumes, hoping to please the Redskin fans. Hatt, spent many hours practicing tor the numerous activities which would be incom- plete without it. The band performed untirinqly at tootball and basketball qames, pep sessions, and concerts. This year the band appeared in tour concerts and two quest proqrams. Last tall, the Marching Redskins were presented the Sweepstakes trophy tor the best all around band, in their division, in the Marching Con- test. To climax the year, the band took a two- day concert tour throuqh southern lndiana. Honor Dramatists, Musicians The National Thespian Society was organ- ized for the purpose of advancing the dramatic arts standards in secondary schools. Under the direction ot Mr. Iames Purkhiser, the local North Side chapter honors those students who have distinguished themselves in the dramatic arts during their high school career. Each spring, new members are formally initiated, after which they attend a banquet. N.S.l. is an honorary club for members ot the band and orchestra. lts purpose is to further the members' interest in instrumental music. Giticers elected for the year were Phil Schuh man, presidenty Maury Cook, vice presidentp Rhea Kittinger, secretaryg Max Bell, treasurer: and Dennis Anglin, parliamentarian. Mr. C. W.
