Student Council was organized for the pur- pose of creating better relationships and under- standing between the student body and school administration. Members, elected from clubs and home rooms, aid in school government and plan many school events. The most popular project of the council is the annual Get- Acquainted Day in the fall. At Christmas time, Student Council again undertook the crusade to aid needy families. On lunior High Evening in the Spring, prospective North Siders were taken on a tour of the school by council mem- bers. Each year the council also conducts a drive to raise money used for the support of two war orphans. A new project, undertaken to supplement council funds, was selling North Side notebooks with attractive red and white covers. Each semester a theme is picked which acts as a basis tor the literature that is then studied. This year's themes were Hoosier Authors and Science Fiction. Activities for this year included a Christmas program for the Allen County Infirmary, the Spring Tea, and the Senior Farewell. First semester officers were Iudy Maris, presidentg Roy Butzier, vice presi- dentp Letty Bryce, secretaryp and Iohn Stout, treasurer. Lynn Rosenbaum, Maury Cook, Marcia Wible and Sue Borkenstein served as social, program, membership, and publicity chairmen, respectively. Others were Dixie Durr, service recorderg and Dortha Hill and Paulann Hosler, critics.
