Ripplettes Get In the Swim A membership limit of twenty girls causes keen competition for North's many mer- maids. At spring tryouts each year the members oi Ripplettes judge prospective members on their performance oi the fol- lowing skills: ballet legs, dolphins, back surface dive, revolving duets, porpoises, front dives, rhythmic strokes, waltz crawl, and front crawl. This year the Ripplettes worked on the perfection of such skills as the catalina, flamingo, and oyster. These skills will be used in the water show Ripples in Rhythm, presented biennially. A revolving Wheel formation by the girls in Ripple-ties. Three girls do a ballet legs which all girls learn. Ripplettes line up along the pool to get in a swim. They are Iudy Winkler, Margaret Thompson, lean Hyndman. Sandra Behrens, Kay Baughman, Gwen Myers, Ioyce Sharpe, Iudy Stackhouse, Ioan Roberts, Sue Parker, and lean Moyer. Is of Interest to Many The Girls Athletic Association, better known as G.A.A. offers a wide variety of activity for girls. They uphold the ideals of sportsmanship, loyalty, and health. The club is guided by Miss Margaret Spiegel and Miss Ruth Carroll. Some activities offered are archery, badminton, bowling, basketball, and swimming. The basketball tourney this year was won by the team labeled Nash, lnc. Softball, tennis, and volley- ball were also offered. Besides offering sports, many social activities are included in their agenda. Formal initiation, potluck, freshman party, an after game dance, and the spring banquet keep the social affairs rolling.
