North Sides Girls Cheerrng Block helped our team through a tough y th f Cheering Block Contributes Splrlt The cheering block, consisting of Red- slcin lasses, was formed for the third year. For this year the block decided to Wear red Weskits, White gloves, and red head loands and feathers. The en- thusiasm for the block was so great that many girls were Waiting to sign up hours before school opened the day it was organized. This well organized enthusiastic block helped our team through many tough situations. When he sailed over the high sticks in 14.7 seconds he became the fastest hurdler that Fort Wayne ever produced. Having Trowbridge backed by Bill Qrtlieb, a tremendous hurdler in his own right, gave North a tremendous one-two punch. North's distance men always helped the cause. lack Quas and Ed Evans in the mile along with Frank Geist and Harvey Baker in the half mile were always leading the pack for the .gi A RT is 1 A. Fton Bowman, veteran in 440 yard dash, backed these distance men effec- tively. For the shorter distances Ron Slater and Pete Lundell took over, winning most of the dashes. The runners could always depend on the field men Tom Seifert, shot put, Dick Ester- line, high jump, Dewey Senger and Don Stager, pole vault, Bob Richards and Don Stager, broad jump. All tracksters combined their efforts for another tremendous season.
