The AThleTic Board is called upon To build sTurdy legs and bodies as well as alerT minds. This year NorTh Side has separaTe coaches Tor TooTball, baskeTball, and Track. These Three capable coaches are helped by Two assis- TanT menTors. The direcTor oT all sporTs acTiviTies is lvlr. Rolla Chambers. l-le ably serves in The capaciTy oT Track and cross-counTry coach. l-le has produced many Tine Track and cross-counTry Teams, his Teams being considered among The sTaTe's besT. l-lead TooTball coach This year is a newcomer To NorTh Side. lvlr. AnThony Tony Juska. This year he produced a Tine TooTball Team, which won The ciTy championship. AssisTing Mr. Juska was Mr. RoberT DornTe and Mr. l-lyrle lvy. Mr. DornTe, wiTh The able assisTance oT lvlr. l-larry Young and Mr. Juska, lead The baskeTball squad Through a successTul season. Besides The varsiTy sporTs, many inTramural sporTs were carried ouT. Mr. Chambers conducTed a noon hour baskeTball league and a cross-counTry duel. Mr. J. R. Sinks conducTed The annual home room baskeTball TournamenT. Mr. Noel WhiTTern, Tennis coach, and lvlr. Leslie Reeves conTribuTed immeasurably To NorTh Side's aThleTic progress wiTh Their aid aT all sporTs evenTs. Mr. l-lyrle Ivy Tilled The capaciTy oT swimming and rifle club insTrucTorg lvlr. MilTon NorTh- rop served as able chieT Tor all sporTs

Simon and DeTwiler ran one-Two in These Two meeTs. In OcTober, The Redmen loeaT C. C., 38 To 28, Roosevelt 34 To 22, and Goshen, 25 To 22. We could only Tie EllcharT, 28 To 28, and lose To lvlishawalca, 34 To 24. In The sTaTe meeT aT lndianapolis, Simon scored TirsT place and DeTwiler TiTTh as NorTh Toolc second place. ln The N. I. C. meeT, Rarich oT Goshen nosed Simon aT The Tape To hand Wayne his TirsT deTeaT oT The season. The l-lammond WildcaTs nosed NorTh, 73 To 68. NexT year's squad will have plenTy oT yeTs reTurninq as The Reds lose only Alden, Hayes, and WrighT.

The large number OT holdovers Trom lasT year was swelled considerably by The many new TooTball leTTermen. AT The TirsT meeTing, oTTicers were elecTed To lead The big N men. Don lv1ansTield was chosen presidenT, wiTh Jim Leaman assisTing him as vice-presidenT, and Jim Shearer as secreTary-Treas- urer. Mr. Rolla Chambers and Miss Julia STorr are The club advisers. To become a member oT This club, one musT have earned a leTTer aT NorTh Side. The purpose oT The club is To provide social acTiviTies Tor The leTTermen, and To Turnish a means by which graduaTed leTTer- men can keep in Touch wiTh Their Alma lvlaTer. Whenever a dance or bangueT is held. all Tormer N men are inviTed as guesTs. This year's ouTsTanding aTTair Tor The LeTTermen was The banqueT held January 2. Don lv1ansTield, presidenT, was general chairman oT The evenT. Ben Alward, Bill STeele, l-lerb Bruiclc, Jack l-layes, Jim Shearer, and Rawland Alden served as The various commiTTee chairmen. This year The annual aTTer-game dance sponsored by The LeTTermen was held aTTer The NorTh Side-CenTral game on February 7. LeTTermen are leTT To righT, TronT row: PrenTice, Bruiclc, Georgi, l-liaTT, Cowan, Powell, KnuTh. Second row: CaTTin, CarpenTer, PlaTT, Connors, STaighT, Beighly Dellinger, BaxTer, Alward.
