Calvin an older brother, was Mr. North Side six years ago. Since Kevin came to North Side he has distinguished himself in several areas. He has been class president his junior and senior year. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a National English Merit Award winner. When Kevin was a freshman, he was awarded the Ann Brannon Award for Science, when a sophomore, the same award for Chemistry. Last year Kevin traveled to Washington, D.C. as a participant in the Close-Up program, a seminar study of our government at work. Kevin, in his junior year, served as a member of an advisory group who counseled J. P. Elder concerning drugs. Kevin lettered two years in basketball and one year in football. Kevin Thompson is the yearbook editor and, surprising to no one, he was elected Most Likely To Suc- ceed by the North Side student body. Two years ago, Lydia Paredes’ older brother Benny was chosen Mr. North Side. This time it is his sister’s turn to be honored with the title Ms. North Side. Lydia has been very active in many phases of school life. She is a two-year National Honor Society member and is parliamentarian of that group. She is a two-year member of Future Business Leaders of America. She is District Parliamentarian and State Secretary for F.B.L.A. Lydia has represented her class for two years in the Student Council. As a senior she won a National Merit Award for English. She also is the recipient of the D.A.R. award for North Side. Lydia Paredes is a member of the yearbook staff and the North Side and was a member of the North Side Key Club for one year.
