CONSTITUTION (special to the Hie Haec Hoc) The new proposed student government constitution has been completed, according to a well-informed source who has leaked to us the content of the document, drafted by Andrew Brown. The new system may seem to be less representative, Brown told us, but it really isn ' t. Basically, the new constitution provides for: a five man rotating Politburo whose members shall each be in charge of a cabinet department a three man Advisory Board a five man Judiciary committee The Politburo will have control over the proposed General Assembly, the various com- mittees, the headmaster, the Board of Trustees, and the French Department. Politburo mem- bers will be appointed for life by the Advisory Board, whose members in turn will be ap- pointed for life by the specially appointed Father of the Constitution, Andy Brown, who will hold his post for life. The Judiciary committee will be appointed by the Curriculum committee acting on the recommendation of the Business Office. The Business office, the Curriculum committee, and the Secret Police will be put under the jurisdiction of a Special Investigator, Andy Brown, who will be appointed for life. k, The 1976 MIRROR is dedicated to: Mr. Francis R. So Jock and I sat down one night And decided that this just wasn ' t right; We had one more season left to scream, So we pinned our hopes on the Baseball team. Well the season went by and was almost done, And every game we saw, the Raiders won. Now a championship day was finally here, The sun was bright and the jokes were clear. When Ames climbed the hill and let the first pitch fly, We knew we were ready for a do or die. They scored first but it was unearned And this caused Deuble to start to burn; So he stepped up and stroked a clear hit And was soon at third when the ball left the catcher ' s mit- Up stepped Ames and knocked it towards the sun And Deubs came in with the tying run. The game stayed tied for a little longer, Then Clay came up with a right field bonger; By the time he reached 3rd there were two men out, And up stepped Ames hoping to knock one out. He hit a grounder which made us all gag, But with a great second effort beat the ball to the bag. North Shore was ahead to hopefully stay And bring home one more title for Mac, for Jay. The last of the seventh two men were out, Men on 2nd and 3rd, they needed a clout; And the title would be theirs and we ' d we left out. Two strikes on the batter, one more meant the end- Would the catcher ask for a quick one or one with a bend. Silb yelled he can ' t hit what he can ' t see- Stuart reared back and blew in strike three. The ballgame was over the championship done, Jock looked up from the dirt and said, ' My God, we won! ' . We both enjoyed watching all of you compete in all sports this year, Seniors, Good luck and the rest of you we ' ll see next fall. Osberg knew that the final days were approaching as he and Linda Hartz entered the Square Office at 10:25 that Monday morning. They were afraid to tell MacDonald about the restlessness in the air. The faculty was restless, the students were restless, the maintenance staff were restless. Boss, said Osberg, chewing a cigarette as he faced the haggard worn face of the headmaster, our cover has been blown. Someone told the kids summer vacation is almost here. So it ' s come to that? said MacDonald. We don ' t know how much longer we can keep a lid on the school, Linda said. There must have been a leak in the Business Office! MacDonald yelled. No one was to know how few weeks we have left except us. The kids are going to go wild! Schroderus stumbled into Osberg ' s office that afternoon, pale and weak. It finally happened! he gasped. I couldn ' t control my sandbox class! They all keep saying the final days are here, and they won ' t do any work! Horn leaked the calendar to the kids, Wayne. Then we ' re all in tor it! We ' ll never be able to control them! Wayne, said Osberg in a faint whisper, I know you ' re not a religious man, but . . . but, will you pray with me? They both knelt on the carpet and prayed. 150 Later that afternoon Osberg went up to the Resource Center, following up a report of a riot. Books and equipment lay strewn all over the floor, and there was blood on the carpeting. And there, by the wall, was Marie Lundquist, talking to a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. Was the Civil War ever like this? she was whispering over and over again.
