Vik Thinclads. . . The 1967 edition of North's track and field forces lived up to the highest expectations early in the season then slackened in the latter meets due to injuries, mishaps, bad breaks and tough com- petition. With a strong opening thrust the thin clads from NSHS streaked to a fourth position in the first meet of the year, the annual Williamette Relays. Out of forty high schools competing, North accummulated enough points to secure fourth and unveiled its distance medley team which survived all comers for an unde- feated relay season. Likewise, the team turned in an outstanding performance at the Hudson's Bay Invitational meet in Washington, showing strength in most all events and finishing fourth out of nine teams including the two top teams in Washington State. Sparkplug and endurance man of the year was james Scott Bremmer who hung tough all year long after breaking both the mile 01:18.62 and the two mile school records 19:54.31 Scott is also North's only State Meet qualifier in both the mile and 880. With consistantly good efforts by every team member, all season long, North Salem overpowered many opponents and proved a close match for all others, with the difference being in the teams lack of depth for those meet winning seconds and thirds. Stocked-up with many experienced juniors and sophomores, Coaches Halsor and Pauldanius look to the future with anticipation. Jump, Al w '-, x..
