Although North's Sophomore baslcetballers had an over all record,of 5-10. their season was highlighted by winning the mythical City Championship. The Sophomores demonstrated their supremacy over their inrracity foes with a 5 win one loss record. Members of the Sophomore team, along with sophomore members of the j.V. and Varsity squads show much promise to help restore North Salem's basketball team to the role of a contender. J.V. Basketball 483 I In his second year as j.V. basketball coach, Mr. Littlejohn got his troops off to a fast start. They then lost three games in a row and never quite retreived their winning touch. Their 9-13 win-loss record is not quite as had as it seems. In their 13 defeats, only four times were they really outclassed, and three times their losses were due to sickness and injury. The 11 team members were. A 50' LW. Smith's work never ends. Competing in one of the largest gym- nastic districts in the state, plus being confronted with a tough 7:00 P,M, practice schedule, North Salem's gym- nastic team showed great improvement during the 1967 season. The team has initiated talent, grace, muscle, and skill into a competitive season. The rigor and grind of four months of practice was rewarded with big wins over McNary, Corvallis, and South, plus several other victories. l While quietness is a common courtesy extended to all participants during a meet, Coach Chucks Hargand's Iron-Cross took many firsts in the Still Rings event.
