WORKING TOGETHER in order to be counted. his year has been filled with a mixture of contention and cooperation. Caught be- tween the various issues of merger which faced the school, the impor- tance of a strong comradeship be- came apparent to the student body. Many obstacles were overcome by school spirit. Yet, there were times when North Rowan would have unf doubtably faltered without the help of the surrounding community. One example of such a time was the open hearing of the merger steering committee on November 6, 1985. Several parents of North Row- an students, Larry Weaver and Patti Secreast to name a couple, spolse on behalf of the school. Other parents who attended the meeting, but were not on the agenda to speals, showed their support by dressing in green and gold. The baclsbone these parents presented at the hearing showed North Rowan was a well supported school. The PTSA Cparent-Teacher-Student Associationb, and the North Rowan Booster Club and Band parents were three organizations who were active in the school this year, Members of the PTSA could be found at ballgames selling carnations and waving spirit flags. Booster Club members helped with selling ticlsets and souvenirs at football games, while the Band parents worlsed the concession stands. They pulled together to malse cal-aes and pies that were sold at the ballgames. Profits from these sales helped pay for the new ticl-ret booth and concession stand. The cooperation and support of all these organizations were expressed throughout the year. With the help of these people and the rest of the com- munity a lot has been done to help North Rowan. l ...
