Somerimes ir was necessary ro ger a lirrle ourside help. These were rhe times when we were grateful for rhe Guidance Deparrmenr and even In-School Suspension. Many of us had rhose momenrs of weals- ness when we srrayed from rhe righr parh. Someone was rhere ro pur us srraighr. As direcror Mr. Hundley explained, ES gers some disruprfve sruclenrs our of rhe class- room so orhers may have rhe opporrunify ro learn. Through srricr discipline and a lor of indi- vidual help from Mr. Hundley and Mrs. Kouutiug an a curve Jones, srudenrs really learned from rheir mis- ralaes. ISS does have one advanrage, ac- cording ro Anthony Terrence, you ger ro go ro lunch early. The Guidance Deparrmenr was probably rhe mosr influenral group in rhe school. Mr. Smyre, Mrs. Helfer and newcomer Mrs. Millikin helped us choose courses, apply for scholarships, pursuejobs, and ger along wirh fellow srudenrs and teachers, information on colleges and varied rests were on hand in rheir offices, our mosr imporranrly, rhey were willing ro lisren whenever we needed someone ro rolls ro. ln rhe new guidance resource cenrer, Mrs Helfer shows Tyrone Rankin some of rhe new programs Nor raising schoolworl-x seriously causes many srudenrs ro be senr ro lSS inun-
