BOARD OF EDUCATION YOU - THE PRODUCT AND PURPOSE There is no better time to pause and evaluate the product and purpose of our educational system than now on the eve of your graduation from high school. When you return up the aisle, after receiving your diploma, you will be taking the first of many steps toward an eventual goal. Each step that you take will be recorded as if it were written in wet cement. With each step, you, your parents, your friends, and your school will be held up for review; for in each of you is embodied the culminating efforts of those who have tried to guide your passage to success. Your future accomplishments will exemplify the philosophy of that portion of society by whom you have been nurtured. Both in school and at home you have been taught the best of our heritage. You have experienced responsibility and leadership. You have been urged, and on occasions made to perform at a high level of achievement. You have been groomed in the perpetuation of democracy and polished in the art of personal freedom and individual service. History will soon record the degree of our success — for you are the product and purpose of our school and community.
