Her patient manners, her cheer- fulness, and her constant willingness to help have made our Senior year much more enjoyable. As we go our separate ways, we shall always regard Miss Serviss as a sincere friend of the Class of '58. ✓ Character is the result of two things: Mental atti- tude and the way we spend our time. JEAN BLAUVELT Why be sad and blue when you can laugh your worries away! Do unto the other feller what you'd have him do unto you, only do it first. CUSS Of ’58 Lock all your troubles in a big strong box, and then sit on the lid and laugh. Whene'er you speak, re- member the cause stands, not on eloquence, but stands on laws. Suave, sophisti- , , cated and debonnaire. Women are made to be loved, not to be under- stood. CUSS Op ’58 Success is counted sweet- ness by those who ne'er succeed. John's the mischievous guy of our class, but his winning way you can't sur- pass. 16 JOHN DICKINSON ANN GARLAND A quiet tongue and a busy mind, A gentle touch and a heart that’s kind. MAXINE CLINGERMAN DAVID PERKINS Always running down the hall, Vatch out for the teachers', is her call. Dimples are the root of all deviltry. CLASS Op '58 Rodney may be sort of shy. But once you know him he’s quite a guy. JUDY STADERMAN 17 RODNEY HUMBERT ROSALIE SPENCER Quiet and shy, but with- out a frown, Dorla will never let you down. DORLA FOURNIER I ROBERT NORRIS Stealing a kiss may be petty larceny but some- times it's grand. Always late, never on time, the higher the speed the more the fine. In our Freshman year, under the sup- ervision of Miss French, we added $179.00 to our treasury. In our Sophomore year we earned more money, by selling Christmas Cards under the supervision of Miss Day, our homeroom teach- er. We also sold tickets to all basketball games. We culminated our Sophomore year by order- ing our Junior Class Rings, which arrived in the middle of October, in our third year of High School. Now as Juniors of North Rose Central, with Miss French as our advisor, we are kept busy operating our Snack Bar, under the sup- ervision of David Godkin, our appointed man- ager, and publishing our school paper, the Scan- ner, with Dorothy De Vay as Editor-in-chief. We are looking forward to our Senior year with great enthusiasm, and we wish the graduating class of ‘58 the best of success now and in the future. ROW ONE: J. Skutt, G. Under the capable leadership of our friend and former teacher, Mr. Gregory, during our Freshman and Sophomore years we sold candy, Christmas cards, and had a jukebox dance. As Jolly Juniors, we operated the snackbar, received our class rings, sponsored two skating parties, had a square dance, and published the Scanner with the assistance of our help- ful advisor, Miss French. September 1957 - found us a group of “dignified seniors with our cheerful advior, Miss Serviss, to guide our activities. The magazine drive which was successful, really set the pace for all our future activities. On November 14 and 15, we proved that “Seventeen is Terrific”, under the tireless di- rection of Miss French. Records were broken - we had the largest income from ticket sales, and (thanks to the diligent work of those Seventh Graders) we had a presale of over $200. The total income was $325.83. Many long hours of hard work went into the publication of our '58 Rambler. But, here it is, and we hope you like it. Our Class Night Program and trip to Washington, D. C. proved to be outstanding events of our Senior Year. Now we are nearing that final goal in high school - Graduation - or would it be better to say Commencement - and the realization of many dreams and ambitions. 50 ROW ONE: R. Horton, R. Richardson, T. Teamwork improved tremendously on the 1957 version of the Maroon and White Booters. Especially strong on defense were Goalie Jon Edinger and Fullback Dave Godkin. Standouts on the forward line were the team’s hustlers, Carl Frazer, Roger Shufelt, and Freshman Bill Harrison. The cooperation shown by these boys should be an indication of things to come, as only three team members will not be available next season. basbbaLL ROW ONE: H. Terhune, Manager; R. Guthrie, D. The 1957-58 Varsity Basketball squad worked hard in practice with a sincere desire to win. The new squad was one of the best squads ever turned out by North Rose. With thebacking of a fine coach, the varsity always played hard in every game regardless of the outcome. Sports- manship was one of the outstanding traits of the basketball squad and the spectators. With the backing of Coach Lane and Coach Woods we’ll have some fine prospects for our varsity team next year. The tennis team for 1957 won four and lost six matches, a good record considering that this was the first year for each member.
