BOARD OF EDUCATION This is the year that: On our census there were 985 pupils. A new Art program was started with a full time Art teacher. A guidance program is under way with a part-time Guidance Director. The remaining two contract districts. Rose No. 5 and Huron No. 2 became a part of the Central School District in July 1953. The exempt class of employees was extended Social Security under approval date 12 31 53 retroactive to September 1953« School news appeared in the Lake Shore News , our local weekly newspaper. An average of 408 lunches were served per day in both schools. Both Junior and Senior High School Guidance Committees functioned effectively in group discussions of individual pupil problems. Necessary alterations were made and equipment purchased for the Annex near the school to facilitate its use for the in- creased number of students in Grades I and 2. New band uniforms were purchased for the Senior Band. A Junior Band of thirty members has been organized and the Senior Band has increased to thirty-four members. A small fry basketball program for boys aged 8-12 was started to teach them the fundamentals of basketball, on Saturday mornings. The F.F.A. planted beans on four acres of land owned by the Central School District as a continuation of a project started last year. A circular driveway was built improving the conditions for loading the buses and providing a larger parking area. The above facts indicate progress in our school. They prove that our greatest investment is in the lives of boys and girls of our community, through helping them to become good citizens. L. to R.: S. Oaks, H. Welkley, W. Baldridge, R. McQueen, President; G. Marshall, C. Charoplin, L. Gowers.

PAUL J. EDINGF.R, SUPERVISING PRINCIPAL OUR PRINCIPAL Dear Mr. Edinger: If we attempted to convey to you in full what your able guidance, your friend- ship and your helpfulness have meant to us through our school years, we would find it a difficult task in- deed. For your gifts” of time and effort spent in helping us with our in- dividual problems, and in being an efficient and wise administrator cannot easily be repaid. Our only hope is that we may, in our lives, prove ourselves worthy of your guidance, and that your untiring work for us will not be unmerited. For everything, Mr. Ed- inger, we say — 'Thank you,” and although it is a brief and inadequate way to express our deep grati- tude, it is heartfelt and completely sincere. “APPRECIATION” We, the Seniors of N.R.C.S., wish to entend our sincerest gratitude to our secretaries, Jo ce and Marian, for their thoughtful- ness. Their cheerfulness and bright smiles have brightened all of our days at N.R.C.S. 7
