■ Stands our honored We are proud of our school, and are deeply indebted to Clinton Hall, an alumnus of N.R.C.S., a member of the class of ’27, who wrote the words and composed the music for our Alma Mater. With these beautiful words of our Alma Mater deeply implanted in our hearts and minds, we pledge our loyalty and devotion to our beloved school. As the words, “In a quiet, little vil- lage, just below Ontario’s blue,” have linked our lives with the past, — so may they bind our friendship in lasting and un- dying memories. “Their vision is our challenge.” FDHEWOHD WEHONOH We Honor, Mr. Edinger: Whose heartfelt loyalty and conscientious endeavor have helped us to set our goal high and attain it. To him we have taken our prob- lems, confident that his wisdom and just guidance would turn us toward a solution. Our success was due to the active interest and personal con- cern that he has shown for each member of the class of ’51. “Many thanks, Marian, for the thoughtful things you do for all of us.” The Students of N.R.C.S. CLASS HISTORY At last the time has come when we are going to graduate. For twelve long years we have striven to reach our goal and now, before we realize it, we are there. It was four years ago in September, 1947 that Mr. Marvin and Mrs. Knapp, our advisors, or- ganized 32 of us frivolous Freshmen. We elected to office: Ellen Gray, President; Robert Adams, Vice-President; Richard Bastian, Secretary; Alice Catchpole, Treasurer; and Shirley Fitch and Carl Champlin, Student Council representatives. The highlights of the year were: a hay ride: a Christmas party, including gifts; dancing and refreshments. In our Sophomore year, with Mr. Marvin and Mrs. Rexer as advisors, we elected Gerald Meyer, President; Robert Adams, Vice-President; Hazel Hixon, Secretary; Freda Price, Treasurer: and Shirley Fitch and Ellen Gray, Student Council representatives. Activities of the year were: a bake sale; sale of beanies, head scarves and emblems of school color; and a dance. We began our Junior year with Mr. Amyot and Miss Rankin as advisors. We elected Gerald Meyer, President; Richard Durham, Vice-President; Hazel Hixon, Secretary; Rruce Wise, Treas- urer; and Shirley Fitch and Robert Adams, Student Council representatives. While Juniors, we sponsored two dances; ordered and received class rings; had a Christmas party; sold Christmas cards; and took over the candy store after Easter. Before we realized it we found ourselves sophisticated Seniors with Mr. Amyot and Mr. Pad- dock as our advisors. During the year we sold magazines and Christmas cards; sold candy at ball games; ordered and received Senior pictures; had a Christmas party; produced Senior play: published yearbook; went on our Senior trip to Washington; and received our graduation an- nouncements. After twelve complete years, we are ready and anxious to graduate. The job that kept the Juniors really busy was selling popcorn and coke at the basketball games. On April 27, the class sponsored two all-school plays and a play given by the Adult Education Dramatics Class, directed by Miss French, Miss Finch and Miss Webber. t 15 CLASS OF 1953 Row 1: V. tiastian, S. STUDENT COUNCIL This year the choosing of officers was made more competitive by a new system of elections which included campaign speeches and political posters. The first duty of the Student Council was the appointing of sub-councils. Some of the highlights of the year include: the purchase of the intramural trophy, which added more enthusiasm to the program; the exchange of an assembly with Clyde;the improvement of the school lunch line; a Halloween and Valentine party; the election of cheerleaders and a special campaign to help keep our school clean and neat. This year a press club was organized with the help of Mr. Van Wagenen. After three years without a school paper, everyone welcomed its revival. The name “Schnews” was contributed by Robert Adams, who explained it to be a combination of school news. The paper was published every three weeks in order to present the news before it became old. We had no trouble selling it. The price charged was five cents per copy of fifty cents for the total number of copies. The purpose of the paper was to keep the students up-to-date as well as create an interest in school events. And we tread life’s rugged way. Seated: B. Durham, V. Bastain, V ice-P resident; B. The success of the team cannot be judged by the schedule because it was the first time that they played an all B schedule. Williamson won the “B title and they were followed in order, in the league, by Wavne and then Wolcott. It should be noted that North Hose tied Williamson and defeated Wayne to remove them from the race. North Rose went down to defeat in the last minute and a half of play against Wolcott. Besides this, they played an outstanding game against Bloomfield in the Sectionals which went into overtime. All contenders that were met were strong and our team had to play flawless tennis to beat them. How- ever, at the season’s end we were lied with Clyde for first place in the league.
