Sixth Grade FIRST ROW: Thomas Smith, Deborah Funk, Deborah Roth, Ruby Rodgers, Sue Hesterman, Gary Hurst. SECOND ROW: Michael Dunning, Michael Hesterman, Timothy Saneholtz, Dennis Bockelman, Dean Smith, Thomas Henry. THIRD ROW: Josephina Martinez, David Kruse, Robert Rohrs, Roger Dachenhaus, Beverly Nartker, Diana Gallaga, Kenneth Arnos. FOURTH ROW: Sharon VonDeylen, Sandra Mohring, Darwyn Badenhop, Nor- man Schnitkey, Russell Hess, Josie Martinez. TEACHER: Mr. Leson. Reaching the upper grades meant important prog- ress for the fifth and sixth grades. Lessons were a little more advanced than in the lower grades, and the quest to develop skill in reading, writing, and arith- metic became more intense. With increasing skill came new learning experiences like visiting through- out the world via the words and pictures of a social studies book. Activities beside actual classwork gave the fifth and sixth graders a chance to develop a variety of interests and talents. In art class they expressed their creative imagination, and the finished products on display added color to their classrooms. Hobby and science shows demonstrated the expanding boundaries of their young minds. New responsibilities such as washing dishes in the cafeteria helped the sixth graders prepare for the big step into junior high. QLeftj Mr. Emil Schult is pictured conducting one of the several migrant classes held in the fall. Mr. Schult X also served as Board of Education clerk and substitute teacher.

Just as a school cannot operate without the taxes of the adultsg neither can a yearbook be successful without the financial assistance of advertising. For the annual staff advertising represents that big step between their own world of school and the world of the adultsg it somehow bridges the gap that at times seems to be an almost uncrossable chasm between teenagers and adults.
