The guiding lights down the paths of education are held by teachers. It is not impossible to make the journey down these paths without a light, but the way does not seem as difficult with a lamp to guide. It is not easy for teachers to direct the students on their way. Knowledge, understanding, patience and even a sense of humor are required. But together the students and teachers learned and grew for the few brief months of the school year. Then it is time for the students to again proceed further down the path until they finally meet a greater teacher--life. The steps of education looked very formidable to the eyes of an elementary student. Those in Kinder- garten took that first big step that launched them on the way to unknown horizons of learning. The stu- dents in the upper grades picked out high school stu- dents as heroesg whose steps they would try to dupli- cate some day.
