HO OR SOCIETY PROVIDED BOOK FOR STUDE TS ABOVE, LEFT: Inducted in the traditional candlelight ceremony were Rita Rohrs, Gloria Short, and Nancy Gerken and probationary members fSEATEDy Linda Roehl, and Denny Meyer. ABOVE, RIGHT: Students gather at the bookstore to purchase books and exchange the latest news. LEFT, FIRST ROW: Ric Nelson, Dennie Rohrs. SECOND ROW: Vivian Hess, Marilyn Amos, Mar- lene Sonnenberg. THIRD ROW: Steve Meyer, Robert Boelter. One of the main objectives of the National Honor Society is the encouragement of higher educational standards in the school. Ridgeville's chapter sought to do this by operating a paperback bookstore on Tuesday and Thursday noon. More than 100 different titles were offered at a time, with new books appear- ing regularly. The bookstore proved to be a success and often provided a gathering place for the students, The money received from the book sales was used for a scholarship to help a worthy student buy college text- books. This scholarship was presented to Roger Genter at Commencement. 34
